What Type of Flooring Should I Get? DirectBuy Can Help

I'm ready for new flooring in our main corridor and dining room, both of which currently have carpet. I would love to switch to something easier to clean as both get a lot of foot traffic coming in directly from the outside. There is a spot right at the front door where people can take off their shoes before they come in, but well, you know how that sometimes goes. It's been 7-yrs since we put that carpet in, and although professional cleaning revives it somewhat, it's still time for it to go. Our dilemma? Deciding what kind of flooring will be most appropriate in those places, in terms of both durability and visual appeal. That's where DirectBuy comes in.

With a wide array of flooring available for purchase, DirectBuy understands that deciding which kind of flooring to buy can sometimes be overwhelming. As such, they've put together a handy dandy infograph for you, to help make things a little easier.

Learn more about DirectBuy by visiting their website. Be sure too, to check them out on Facebook and/or Twitter.

We actually just redid our floors to laminate in our kitchen, dining room and living room and couldn't be happier. Just love the way they came out and look now :)

I have all hard wood on my first floor and love it. It's easy to clean and looks great.

Bamboo sounds like a good one to try. Stone I don't think I'd ever use that.

I would love to change out our carpet area too. Maybe leave the bedrooms as is but put wood in the living room and hall.

It's hard to know which to choose, but I know you will make a very good choice.

And yay for new flooring!

I love that infographic! We have carpet everywhere but the kitchen and bathrooms.

Love that infograph. And need to replace the carpet here. Shudder. An expensive job which involves a LOT of work.

We got hard wood. I wish I went with engineered!

Liz Mays said...

I have to admit that it's a little intimidating to choose a kind. I need to update some of it around here for sure!

We have floating wood in our house from when we replaced the carpet. Engineered wood would have been a good choice too!

We have Mexican Tile and we love it. We used to have wood and loved it but got in trouble when we had a washer and dryer flood.

This is a useful infographic. I am always clueless on how to choose the floor

We have hardwood. It's easy to clean, but ours is looking pretty bad. We are thinking of laying stone down like we have in one of our bathrooms because it won't need to be refinished in a few years.

Unfortunately I have no real choice-the rule in this apartment is fully carpeted except the kitchen and bathroom! I really would love to change up the kitchen which is very tiny!

I am at the point where I would rather just move than investment any more time, money or energy into where I am now. I have been considering Bamboo Flooring as I'm just not a carpet person and have hardwood now but don't particularly care for the way it has aged! Will have to look into Direct Buy when I'm ready to make the switch!

Bamboo is a beautiful flooring. I would love to have it in my house.

Ah, these are nice options! I can't wait to put wood floors down through our entire house...

Super handy graphic. We're re-doing the kitchen as well and we've been debating on the flooring - this will help loads, so thanks!

Great graphic to have on hand - we did our floors in bamboo - looks great, but - with a strong dog's claws running on it - well certain areas are noticed by me, let's say - so soon we will use your ideas for new flooring!

We need to refinish our wood floors in our living room. Just the thought of it makes me annoyed though. I have no idea how we're going to work that out. When we first did it our house was empty.

I have a bathroom I have been thinking about redoing. It is a 1/2 bath and really small. I actually thought about cork floors.

We have wood floors downstairs with some really pretty areas rugs, and carpeting upstairs. Flooring can be so expensive!

My entire house is wood floor. I like it but I do worry about having it in the entrance way and the kitchen. I need to buy some nice mats to put in those areas.

Picking flooring is something that would drive me crazy. This infographic helps for sure!

One thing I hate is picking out flooring, saying that we need to do all our floors again soon.

Tile or hardwood get my vote!

Stefany T said...

We don't own our house so no changes here. In my old house I wanted wood flooring so bad!

Amanda said...

We put laminate in. I wanted hardwoods but the floor guy told us with so much moisture in the air here that it would warp/expand/contract/other stuff... so we went with the laminate. I'm shocked how nice it looks! :) You wouldn't even know it wasn't real wood!

We love lumber liquidators....this infographic is really useful, thanks for it!

Hardwood is by far my favorite. I've had all types of floors and to me it's the easiest to maintain and keep clean!

So many great choices, too, wow! I went with engineered bamboo for my hardwood floors

I want to take up the carpet in our dining room...
Maybe one day :)

We completely gutted and remodeled this house. There are SOOO many choices. :) We did hardwoods in most of the house.

This is such an amazing guide to chose the type of flooring you would want. I love the graphical way of explaining various options, so it is too easy to make a decision out of them. Hardwood & Cork would be my choices!

I have hardwood flooring in most of my house and love it

This is a great post. I had the same decision to make last year and we settled on wood laminate.

Tough Cookie Mommy said...

I've heard that wood floors are not that easy to care for. Is this the case?

Celebrity VIP Lounge said...

There are so many options, almost overwhelming. We have hardwood flooring and kind of regretting it due to the scratching. Amber N

I love hard wood floors. I just moved into a new house last summer. The floors are all hard wood and i love it.

Chrystal Mahan said...

I've always been a plan of hard wood. So much easier to clean with pets. We do have carpet in the master bedroom we've been wanting to rip out and put hardwood in if its not already under the carpet like it was in the other bedrooms.

Chrystal Mahan said...

Laminate is awesome! They have so many different choices now.

Toni Patton said...

I would love to do my whole house in hard wood floors. I hate vacuuming LOL, so when we ever redo the floors in our house we will do hardwood for sure.

Thanks for this really informative break down of flooring ypes. I've never really understood the difference with some of these, so I appreciate the clear descriptions.
