Thirty One Bag (Review & Giveaway)

Disclosure: I received a free product to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

The bag I ordered from Melissa!
Melissa, my bloggy friend from My Recent Favorite Books and Readingnks has recently become a Thirty-One consultant.  You probably already know, but if you do not, Thirty-One is the trendy bag and tote company so many people have been mentioning in a positive way. I've seen blog posts about them, saw people carrying them in person, and have even seen them featured in my youngest child's school for a fundraiser project.

3 Pockets on the front (& two more on the back!).
One net pocket on each of the sides.
7 outside pockets total!
When looking for a bag or tote to buy, I want mine to be roomy, sturdy, and have more than one place to store things.  Throw in cute, and a top-zipper, and I'm over the moon giddy. The Zip-Top Organizing Utility Tote by Thirty One, in the Citrus Medallion Print meets all of the above criteria and more!  Generously sized at 10.25"H x 15.5"W x 6.5"D, and touting seven pockets (three on the front, two on the back, and one net pocket on each side) this bag holds a lot.

Generous Sizing
I packed mine to see how much it would hold. I put in a full-sized beach towel, two swimming trunks, two swim shirts, and beach shoes (child-sized), and still had plenty of room left over.

Sturdy enough to hold books!
The bag is also very sturdy, so you could use it pack in larger, heavier items.  I put in a few books, one that is 10" x 13" in size, and you can see there is still room left in the bag.

Double handles
& a zipper that runs across the top.
This bag also has two sturdy hand straps, and a zipper that runs across the top. After reviewing this bag, I can definitely see what all the buzz is about because I love it!!

This is just one of many types/styles of bags, totes, thermals and more available at Melissa's site, which you can access here: https://www.mythirtyone.com/499053

You can also sign up for Melissa's newsletter, follow her Thirty-One Facebook group, and/or follow her Thirty-One board on Pinterest.

Additional Giveaway: On April 30th, Melissa will be drawing a winner for a "Littles Carry-All Caddy" on her Facebook Closed Group! All members of her Facebook Closed Group are eligible to win!

One lucky reader gets the same bag I reviewed (thank you, Melissa!!).

Necktie Emporium #Quality Ties at Affordable Prices (with giveaway)!

Disclosure: I received a free product to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Necktie Emporium is an awesome online store that offers high quality ties for men and boys.  You can get a bow tie for special occasions, or you can get a top of the line neck tie in most any size, color, pattern, and/or style.  They've got clip ties, zip ties, infant ties, matching Father & Son ties (Father's Day anyone?), and regular ties too.

This is the tie we selected.
Much easier to care for than silk, but looks and feels just like it!

My husband has a gray jacket he likes to wear from time to time, and when he does, he invariably wears a tie with red or burgundy tones. That is fine, and all well and good because it looks great, but I thought it would be nice for him to have the option to switch it up a bit if he wanted. I ordered him the Men's Woven Polyester Navy Striped Tie.  The woven microfiber polyester is so smooth it looks and feels like silk, but is much easier in the care department. It doesn't wrinkle like silk does either.

The tie comes in a plastic sleeve.
Perfect for keeping it flawless!

The ties come sleeved in plastic, so they're perfect for gift giving!  The sleeve works well to protect the tie through the delivery process too.

We couldn't be happier with our Necktie Emporium neck tie!

We couldn't be happier with our Necktie Emporium necktie.  With Easter and Father's Day coming up, this is a great place to shop for the men, young men, or boys in your lives. Also, a note of interest: All of their clip-on ties are guaranteed for life. If the clip breaks, send it back and they will replace it for free. I love that!

Orders placed by 2pm Eastern time (Monday through Friday) ship the same day.

You can learn more about Necktie Emporium by visiting their website: http://necktieemporium.com

You can also follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter.

One lucky winner gets a tie of their own (any tie you want from their website).

Kindle Books Costing more than Hard Copies?

We've got a bit of a drive to take this weekend, so I thought I'd surprise my son with a new book on his Kindle. He's reading chapter books now, and so excited about it. He's totally into the Fly Guy series, so I pulled those up first.

Source

The Kindle version of the book I wanted: $5.98

The hard cover version: $6.29

Just a few cents difference.  I was surprised.

I ordered the hard copy to come in the mail.

Source

And then found an e-version of a Pete the Cat book for the car. $2.26

I wonder how such a big change in the way we're reading affects authors.
Does the low price and lack of production fees with an e-version book even out the playing field...allowing significantly more people to purchase them and hence writers to still make a profit?

Will the cost of e-books rise to be so much higher than tangible books that we switch back at some point, to paper (for those that have switched)?

It'll be interesting to watch and see.  As for me, I still prefer a hard copy, but I'm old school about lots of things (I'm proud of that).  ;)

#Sponsored #PeterSomForKohls RSVP, It's Fun & It's Free!

Disclosure: I participated in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Kohl's. I received a gift card as a thank you for participating.

Source

Everyone in our house loves to shop at Kohl's and that's saying a lot because we have a great deal of diversity in age and interests around here. One thing I love about Kohl's is some of the great partnerships they form, and most recently, they have partnered up with renowned American fashion designer, Peter Som! Inspired by the Caribbean Island of St. Barths, the new line being offered is feminine, sophisticated, airy, and fun...and it's definitely got summer written all over it.

On Friday, April 4th, at 12:00 p.m. (EDT), Peter Som will be talking with fashion bloggers and giving us all a look at pieces from his collection.  I love the looks of the line, so this event is a 'don't miss' for me.

You can RSVP to attend too (easy RSVP, just one click). The session is online, and it's free.

Hope to see you there!

Monster Factory VW Tent for Kids. Coolest 'Toy' I've Seen in Awhile!

Disclosure: I received a product to facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

The 'wheelie' carrying case for the Monster Factory 1965 VW Kids Tent.
You'll never guess what is inside that small 'wheelie' carrying case.  Or maybe you will, but I never would have guessed (had I not been the one to open the box when it arrived in the mail).  Inside of this box is a Monster Factory tent for kids, and it's no small tent either!

Assembly is SO easy! Up in seconds.
My favorite thing about it (and there were many) was how easy it was to set up. I don't like a tent that takes me over an hour to piece together (yeah, we've got one of those).  This tent was literally up in seconds, and I didn't do it, my 6-yr. old did.

This is what The Monster Factory VW Campervan looks like when you unzip the case.
You open the bag (careful to step back because it's got a light spring-like action going on when it pops out), and it has a light wire frame that has it standing up instantly.  There are also color coded poles included (by my son's feet in the picture above) that you insert on the top and bottom.

Super easy instructions for inserting the poles were included.
Sliding them in and securing the Velcro tab was a piece of cake.
Inserting the poles was a piece of cake, and it was not me who did it, but rather my Kindergartner (yep, again, it's just that easy).  He inserted the poles, and voila' the tent was up, standing sturdy, and ready to go (it took 5 minutes for assembly, tops).

One of the two entry points
Then the fun began.  Little man tested one of the two entry points and got in with no problem at all.

Dad is 6 ft. tall and he fit inside, with room to spare for a Kindergartner too. ;)
Dad (6 ft. tall) and little man, tested the side entrance...again, no problem at all.

Gotta get your stuffed friends to go take a visit when you've got a new tent.
The little dog (on the top) ended up being the driver (yeah, he took a kid-sized chair in there too).
And Tin-Tin and CheeChaw (my son's two stuffed dogs that go with us everywhere), fit in the tent too. ;)

The flap over the front window raises.
Those are screens so you can not only see out, but you can get air in the tent.
The front windows had to be tested. The front flap over that window can be raised to see out, or get air inside the tent.  There are two easy secure fasteners to hold it in the 'up' position.

This tent has been in our house for 7 days now, and it hasn't lost it's allure (parents everywhere know that some kid items lose their kid-appeal a lot faster than that!).  My son goes in there daily. He goes in after school to read, or pretend-play...

It's big enough for mom, little man, and the board games too,
& the windows on the front let enough light in for us to be able to read or play.
And I climb in there with him (with my camera, of course) to 'drive' or be driven, read, and get beat at play board games.

The Monster Factory 1965 VW Camper Van Play Tent (licensed by Volkswagen)  is for indoor AND outdoor use (yes, we will be taking this to the beach this summer, and taking it along if we go camping). It is recommended for children ages 3+, and it comes in pink, red, and blue.

You can purchase the tent for $59.95 at The Monster Factory (where they also sell an adult version).  We have good friends who have three small children all born in July. I'm thinking we might purchase one of these for their joint birthday present.  It's definitely a great tent to purchase for your child/ren, and I imagine any kid would love to get it as a gift (it's a great way to usher in warmer weather, that's for sure!).

Daddy & Co Bathtub Book & Rubber Duckie (review & giveaway)

Disclosure: I received a product free of charge to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Scrubba Dub Dub with Daddy Duck
& a rubber duck that has, "Daddy" written on the shirt, and "I'm the Daddy" written on the hat.

Daddy & Co. by Daddy Scrubs is a company that caters to the dad in the family, offering a variety of useful and fun items geared towards all of the expectant, new, and expert daddies out there.   With Father's Day fast approaching, Daddy & Co. would be an excellent resource to turn to for gift giving ideas.

That being said, I'm whipping together a fantabulous Easter Basket for my granddaughter (this will be her very first one), and in it will be the Daddy & Co. bathtub book & rubber duckie set.  The book is lightweight, perfect for her age, and big so she can get a good hold on it while 'reading.'  The duck is smaller, and has a lot of smooth but firm angles for our little one to grab onto.  And of course, it floats. :)

This book is waterproof for bath time.
It has big, soft pages, & a cute story too.
Inside the book is a super cute story about a daddy duck happily getting his four little ducklings through bath time and put into bed.

I was taking pictures of the set on my computer chair, but little man happened in and wanted to have a look.  He liked the book too. :)  This would be fun for any occasion (since every day is bath day). It would be great for any special day for baby/toddler too.

You can learn more about Daddy & Company by visiting their website here: http://www.daddyncompany.com

You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube, and/or Instagram (search 'daddycompany').

Tripod 'Store +Go' Travel Container

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a low value free gift from the manufacturer for posting this review. I was not required or compelled to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC 16 CFR, Part 255.

My husband takes preventative pills daily, without fail, and if we're traveling he brings them along.  The trouble with that is he puts them all in a re-purposed vitamin container, which makes it hard to get to what he needs when he needs it. When I say 'pills' I'm talking about his multi-vitamin, Fish Oil, CoQ, Same, Red Yeast Rice, Cholestoff, and whatever else is in there, those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I'm telling you, he's got his own personal pharmacy in the Master Bath. Tripod Store, made by Sabi, has created a take-along pill box that has now replaced his repurposed container.

Created with three spacious slots to hold a variety of vitamins, including the big ones like the Fish Oil capsules, this little container is a beauty!

It folds up to about the size of three 9-volt batteries, which makes it easy to toss in my purse and bring along for when hubby needs it.  It's covered in sturdy, supple rubber, and has three rubber and hinged compartments.

You can see from the picture above that the compartments are nice and roomy, I've put an AA battery in there to demonstrate, since most people have seen one and are familiar with the size.  The pen cap is holding up the rubber cover.

The only beef I had about the product is that while each of the three compartments hooks in place tightly, you can only open it from one end. That means you have to have all three sections open to gain access to the section closest to the non-opening end.  It doesn't bother my husband in the slightest, and he's the one using it, so there you have it.

The Tripod Roll-up from Sabi is nice for what it was made for (carrying pills) but it would also be nice for carrying other little things you want to have at the tip of your fingers, or don't want to get lost.  The clip holds secure, so no worries about spills on an active day.

You can learn more about the Tripod Roll by visiting their website.

You can also visit them on Facebook, Twitter, and/or their blog.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Super Fun Shoes for the Whole Family! Clawz Shoes (w/giveaway!)

Disclosure: I received a free product for review purposes. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Have you heard yet about the new, innovative, super cute, super fun Clawz Shoes??

My son loves to stand out in the crowd, and he loves cool products.  So when I picked him up from school yesterday, and he noticed the mail (that I picked up from the mailbox on my way to go get him), he immediately got excited and wanted to know if he could wear the shoes.

Clawz Shoes for kids in orange
They have toddler and adult sizes too, and a whole array of cool colors.

We were on our way to the grocery store, so I told him it would be okay to give them a try. The first thing we did was head on over to the baked goodies aisle. We've got a cake to make, and we needed some frosting and decorations.  I let little man help select the items and we were off to another area of the store.

We were stopped in the store twice (on a very short shopping trip)
to receive compliments on the shoes.

I hoisted him into the cart (trust me, it's easier that way when you're in a hurry), and we were on our way. Twice we were stopped by people who wanted to compliment him on his Clawz Shoes. People of discerning good taste: These are fun shoes!

Word of Warning: These shoes have been known to bring out the beast in some people.

I do have to give you a word of warning though...the slogan for Clawz Shoes is, 'The Ultimate in Creature Comfort,' & they have been known to bring out the beast in some people (see photo above).

When we got to the party favors aisle, my son hopped out of the cart to help me yet again, pick out some of the things we needed. He was glad to be down and walking around in his shoes again.  He liked the cool factor (the appearance of the shoes), and I liked that they were comfortable. I also liked that they were a hard sole shoe because my son is very active outside, and I want to be sure his feet are protected.

The Clawz Shoes survived the Mom-andretti cart ride just fine!

There is a strap on the back to keep the shoes from falling off.  One has to have good shoes to navigate a Mom-andretti cart ride, and these Clawz Shoes fit the bill just fine.

My loveable beast hopped a ride on the cart and we headed to the check-out aisle, where yet again people noticed his super cool, innovative, fun Clawz Shoes.

Clawz Shoes are molded from comfortable, durable, odor-resistant material and come in a variety of colors and sizes.  They are also great in the rain, at the beach, or generally around water. They grip well and allow water to easily drain through the vent holes in the side.
