Windy Wordless Wednesday

We had a wind storm whip through here this week (see the trees physically toppling over?).

It knocked one tree over onto the corner of our big barn, and whipped open the little door up high.

This was the loudest/biggest break. The top went directly between two out buildings.
Our yard is now a big mess with downed trees and branches everywhere.
We have some pretty huge trees directly over our house,
and they didn't fall, so despite the mess, we're still feeling pretty lucky!

  1. Hi Rosey .. well I think you escaped some potential danger .. just glad it's a mess and nothing worse ... I hope you've got an open fire for the lovely fire-wood once chopped up ... looks like Thanksgiving might be some rallying around to clear up and then enjoy that Turkey - cheers and good luck - Hilary

  6. That was a terrific windstorm. I am not a fan of wind. I just realized what I wrote..... haha I am a fan of "no wind."
We've had some pretty terrific windy days here too. I had the plastic summer yard furniture against the back of the garage and it was scattered all over the yard.
I hope you can get the damaged trees down without further damage to the buildings.

  7. Some of those big storms can be a mess for sure. We live in a wooded area, so when big storms whip up, we have had downed trees, too. Glad you guys are all ok.

  9. Yikes. Not good. Got to get that off the barn before it does more damage. The wind can be very unkind at times.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  14. I don't like wind storms, because they can really wipe out the power for days.

  15. One of our birch trees no graces our lawn--horizontally. As we went out yesterday, there was a tree across our road. We were able to slip by with two tires off-road.

  19. The power of wind is so incredible. We had a pretty bad storm here a couple weeks ago and the damage the was scary! Some people are still repairing the damage it caused.

  20. We lost our Electric a couple of days ago. It was so windy out that I just figured that was the reason.

  25. I'm always nervous with heavy wind storms since we live in an area with a lot of explainable power lines.

  27. Thanks for stopping by.. sorry about no linky I had no clue it wasn't showing. It's fixed now if you'd like to stop by & sign up... but I surely know about these wind storms being right outside of Chicago. I remember one time I still had up our Patio umbrella and it was gone when I went outside and then I found it in the backyard... it was on our frontporch, and one time I found it in the neighbor's yard... I finally put it in the garage. lol HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM OUR HOME TO YOURS MY FRIEND!

  33. Those winds were crazy! Jason came home and was wondering why our very heavy fence gate was open. Those darn winds knocked it clear open, when even he has trouble getting it open sometimes.

  34. It is so amazing to me that wind can do that powerful damage. So crazy.

  35. We had the same weather here too!! I was worried my fence was going to collapse. My basketball net was knocked over into my driveway. It was brutal.

  38. I hate storms like this! I am lucky in this house most of our storms come from the back of the property and the trees back there are far enough away that they won't hurt anything. We did cut some trees down last Spring next to our bedroom that looked pretty scary.

  39. Lovely pictures, I am not liking the damage though, I think I would find that really scary! x

  50. Love the beautiful pictures!
I'm terrified of strong wind too... last winter the wind pushed our BBQ off the side of our deck and onto a huge pile of hard snow.
    What a mess!

  51. We had high winds come through our area too! I was just waiting to open up my front door & see Oz. Glad you came out of it safe!

    ReplyDelete
  52. We had a big storm a couple of weeks back too. I'm glad that none of the trees right around your house fell!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Whoa! Good thing you're alright. Reminds me of the ice storm of 1999 we had in Montreal.

    ReplyDelete
  54. That sucks! :( I'm glad you are safe. It's still not fun to clean up.

    ReplyDelete
  55. That was some strong wind wasn't it?! I think it may have even been a bit calmer here than by you, but our area still have several trees come down and power outages. I'm glad you made it through it safely and hopefully didn't have to go without power at all. :-)

  56. How did I not know after a couple of years that you have a barn?? I am jealous!! I'm so glad the trees didn't do too much damage, you know our family history with falling trees, I don't like wind or branches cracking at all!!
