Almost Wordless Wednesday: Touring the Fine Art in Our Home

This is a short tour of the fine art in our home.

You'll find only the best pieces here...

Created with the finest of crayons and hung with only the best Scotch Tape.

Like this holiday-esque scarecrow, cut with premium kid-safe scissors and hung with the finest of Scotch Tapes.

The Cube Work of my daughter, done awhile back (she's a teen now).
Very modern work, don't you think?

You'll also find Cube Work, like this gorgeous painted cube my now-teen daughter made me once upon a time.

The Baffling, yet Mesmerizing Abstract Art of a Kindergartner

We have the baffling but mesmerizing abstract art of a Kindergartner framed delicately on our hallway wall.

If you look very carefully, you can make out a whale on the left,
and a duck on the right. Craft Material: Unknown
Age: Antique (my now-21 yr old son made these in grade school ;) ).

And, among our prized treasures such as the David (censored for this post) we picked up in Italy, the Eiffel Tower we brought home from France, and a marble statuette we picked up on an anniversary trip we took to Holland, you'll find the delicate work of my now-21 year old son in the form of a whale and a duck. I'm not quite sure of what material our little ar-teeest used, but I am sure it's breakable and the pieces must be displayed in a very important place. I am also sure they are now antiques, since he made them while he was in grade school. ;)

Isn't it true that the most important things are the things that really didn't cost much at all? Even when it comes to art. :)

Love how you "censored" David for this post.
Anyone who would have said anything has too much time on their hands but that's just my two cents. I have a chest filled with my kids memorabilia.

  13. I was the youngest (by a considerable way). My mother, who I suspect was tired of children's art work, told me that the lady up the road didn't have any children to draw for her - so my artwork decorated the neighbours fridge. For years.

  51. Carmen Perez says: I think it's great to display your children's arts and crafts, to show them how proud of them you are.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yes, this is very true my friend. For I have some art also that is priceless, and it can never be replaced. Their are four things that I keep in a box that is fireproof and each one is an art item made by two little hands in kindergarten that I saved one from each one of my children that I would never sell or give away... not even to them. They gave it to me therefore possession is 9/10's of the law, right? :)

  53. What a great art show, and I'm sure your kids really appreciate it. I remember 5 or so years ago when my Dad switched jobs and I first went into his new office and saw that a drawing I had made for him when I was 8 was still hanging in his new office how happy I was.
