Bring on the School Year (and with it the germs)

Right this second we are supposed to be on our way to town to get to a soccer game. Then afterwards, we had plans to tour a local farm. But, little man's down and out with a germy cold. I knew it was coming.

He had that face on for the whole practice.
That is NOT his normal soccer face, so we suspected he was coming down w/a cold.

That was his face for practice on Thursday. That is NOT his normal soccer face. And he was crying for nothing, and coming off of the field to me. Neither of those things ever happen, and both were a sure sign he was coming down with something. Yesterday his voice started to go... and confirmed what I already suspected.  This morning he woke up a nose-runny, coughing mess. Thankfully, it's the weekend so he's got time to rest up and get better for school on Monday.

He and I are the only ones home today, since we had a morning full of kid stuff planned, and he's gone back to bed. I guess that leaves me with the dilemma of putting together a new bed frame that recently arrived for him, or going through the closets to get the outgrown out to donate, and the cold weather stuff in to prepare for winter. Either way, I'd rather be at soccer, and then at the farm. ;)

Happy weekend, all.

  8. I feel sorry for you little one Rosey... my Valentina is sick too... it started on Thursday morning and she was off school for both days ... she told me not to get to close so I wouldn't get sick... I told her not to worry, I won't get sick, it has been 6 years for me,I think I built up a great immune system... :)

  9. Yep this is the time of year people get nasty colds. It's getting colder outside, which brings it on to. I think it's because people are indoors more often. I hope he gets better very soon!

    1. The (university) classes you teach are better, I'm sure. Guessing you still get exposed to your fair share of germs. Hope you're immune to most of them (teachers seem to get that gift). :)

  10. My first year teaching, I got sick constantly, but now it is rare. Knock-on-wood. Schools expose people to everything! I hope he feels better, soon.

    1. It is rare when a teacher calls off sick (and hurrah for it, right?). He's up and moving today, so he'll be in class tomorrow (hurrah for weekend to recuperate). :)

    1. Thanks, he's just got a cold. I just hate when he first gets sick, he always looks so sad/sick (for lack of a better word). Makes me want a magic wand for a sec. to make it instantly better. ;)

  12. As soon as they go back, the germs start to come out and about. Maybe they need really really good air filters in schools. Besides airports and hospitals, maybe gyms, they are the germiest places around.

    1. I'm not adverse to high quality air filters in the schools. And now you've given me pause on joining the gym. ;)

  13. I can't believe it is already back to school time! It really seems like it was just yesterday every blogger was writing about how to keep kids busy all summer long. I work in a hospital, so I am bound to see some of those germs!

  16. Around here the weather went from hot to cool like overnight! I'm not surprised that kids are getting colds. I hope his cold is of short duration and he is back playing soccer with a vengeance.
