Bring on the School Year (and with it the germs)

Right this second we are supposed to be on our way to town to get to a soccer game. Then afterwards, we had plans to tour a local farm. But, little man's down and out with a germy cold. I knew it was coming.

He had that face on for the whole practice.
That is NOT his normal soccer face, so we suspected he was coming down w/a cold.

That was his face for practice on Thursday. That is NOT his normal soccer face. And he was crying for nothing, and coming off of the field to me. Neither of those things ever happen, and both were a sure sign he was coming down with something. Yesterday his voice started to go... and confirmed what I already suspected.  This morning he woke up a nose-runny, coughing mess. Thankfully, it's the weekend so he's got time to rest up and get better for school on Monday.

He and I are the only ones home today, since we had a morning full of kid stuff planned, and he's gone back to bed. I guess that leaves me with the dilemma of putting together a new bed frame that recently arrived for him, or going through the closets to get the outgrown out to donate, and the cold weather stuff in to prepare for winter. Either way, I'd rather be at soccer, and then at the farm. ;)

Happy weekend, all.

I used to hate when my Daughter got sick... but they do get all those germs from the other kids don't they? I hope he gets better fast.

Aww, we too have coughs and supposed to do flu shots today, but have a feeling that will be a no go and turn into a sick visit. Feel for you and hope your little man is better soon now, too!

I feel sorry for you little one Rosey... my Valentina is sick too... it started on Thursday morning and she was off school for both days ... she told me not to get to close so I wouldn't get sick... I told her not to worry, I won't get sick, it has been 6 years for me,I think I built up a great immune system... :)

Yep this is the time of year people get nasty colds. It's getting colder outside, which brings it on to. I think it's because people are indoors more often. I hope he gets better very soon!

My first year teaching, I got sick constantly, but now it is rare. Knock-on-wood. Schools expose people to everything! I hope he feels better, soon.

I hope he gets better quickly - and doesn't pass the lurgy on to you. Or anyone else.

As soon as they go back, the germs start to come out and about. Maybe they need really really good air filters in schools. Besides airports and hospitals, maybe gyms, they are the germiest places around.

I can't believe it is already back to school time! It really seems like it was just yesterday every blogger was writing about how to keep kids busy all summer long. I work in a hospital, so I am bound to see some of those germs!

I hope he feels better soon. We had some cranky kids on Tuesday at soccer, too. Elliott was one of them, but seems to be all the way over it now.

Hope he isn't too sick. I don't get sick often, but when I do, I stay sick for months.

Around here the weather went from hot to cool like overnight! I'm not surprised that kids are getting colds. I hope his cold is of short duration and he is back playing soccer with a vengeance.

Happens here all throughout the school year too, w/the youngest. #sillygerms

We set that farm tour up because of a post you wrote. :)

Thanks, Terry. He's not too bad he can't play, so I'm sure Monday he won't be missing any school. :)

Hopefully it goes away quick

Silly germs. Hoping you're back to 100% soon.

He's moving around pretty good today, no hurrahs for getting sick, but hurrah it's on the weekend (no school missed). :) Thansk for your good thoughts.

I know, his little face makes me aww everytime I see it in that picture. I hate when he's sick.

You ain't a kiddin' Seems odd when they want to rest instead of play. He's up and at 'em today. Still coughing, but up and at 'em just the same. :)

Ugh, hers is worse then if she missed school. I'm sorry to hear it and hoping she gets better fast!

The (university) classes you teach are better, I'm sure. Guessing you still get exposed to your fair share of germs. Hope you're immune to most of them (teachers seem to get that gift). :)

mail4rosey said...

It is rare when a teacher calls off sick (and hurrah for it, right?). He's up and moving today, so he'll be in class tomorrow (hurrah for weekend to recuperate). :)

Thanks, he's just got a cold. I just hate when he first gets sick, he always looks so sad/sick (for lack of a better word). Makes me want a magic wand for a sec. to make it instantly better. ;)

mail4rosey said...

I'm not adverse to high quality air filters in the schools. And now you've given me pause on joining the gym. ;)

Summer flew by, definitely.

Glad to hear he's back to 100%!

Here's to hoping the germs steer clear!

mail4rosey said...

Thanks. I hope that's it on the germs for awhile (knock on wood). ;)

It's on it's way out. Happy to report. :)

Hope he gets better real soon..there is a nasty virus going around here I've been fighting it for 2 weeks now.

Oh I hope he feels better soon. The viruses have been bad this year. Mine have been through several ear infections already.

We've all already had nasty colds and the season just started. That's back-to-school for you. Hope your little man is feeling better for school tomorrow!

Awww! Poor baby :( Don't you hate it when bts rolls around? They always get sick almost immediately after it starts. Allison went all summer healthy and fine, but a week after school, she was down for 4 days!

Kristie said...

I hope he's feeling better today! Being sick is no fun. :-/ It never fails that the kids and I get sick the second week of school...thankfully we had the colds and are on the mend now.
