The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

  3. That trailer was a Huge Disappointment. Right now I cannot think of a worse one. Ever. Doesn't bode well for the movie that watching a glass slipper rotate around is MORE INTERESTING than anything their actors put together.

Since this is not a positive comment, I thought about not commenting at all. But you don't have anything on here that says, "If this looks terrible to you, keep it to yourself."

    1. It's just a teaser to let you know it's coming. ;) And you can say anything you want to here over here. I'm always happy to see you visit. :)

  4. I thought the trailer was very well done. It's all about that shoe anyway. Well not entirely, but it plays a huge part.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

    1. That's a pretty fabulous looking shoe. :) It's still a good ways until the release of the movie, but I already know I'm going. ;)

  5. We will probably go watch this one. Elliott doesn't especially like princesses anymore (when he was little, he thought they were all sooo pretty and wanted to marry them all), but I think Cinderella is still his favorite. :)

    1. You're lucky! I can't get my 6-yr old to watch Cinderella with me. He just has zero interest. The only 'girl' movie I can think of that he's liked is "Frozen" and that's because they made a big deal out of it at school with movie in your jammies day. ;)

  6. Now that is the ultimate tease.
I guess they are redoing all their classics now.

    1. They do seem to be going in a row. I don't mind though, I like that the younger kids will get an introduction to some of my old favorites.

    1. I like Cinderella too. The new princesses are more independent, which is great ('Tangled' is one of my faves), but I thought Cinderella was on its way out because of it. Glad I was wrong. ;)

  17. I'd rather see Cinderella fix her own problems. She's always been a wimp and a poor roll model for girls. I like Elizabeth from The Paper Bag Princess. Now there's a tough chick.

  19. I always loved Cinderella when I was a kid. I babysat my cousin who at the time couldn't talk much. She'd cry if I didn't put her Cinderella dress on. Then I had to give her a plate with a glass slipper. Of course the first time she cried I didn't know about this routine. Now she's all grown up, and has kids. I tease her about it.
