Yesterday was a day of running around
all day, trying to find a solution for my husband's car troubles (a problem not covered under the active warranty, of course). $500 later, we have a solution, and we're waiting on the new aluminum (*sigh*) rim to come in to replace the one that somehow got bent on the inside of wheel, causing his tire to also become irreparably flat. I suspect the potholes in town played a role, they're atrocious now that that hard winter has cleared.
It was a busy day, BUT the night ended on a very high note, we took my car ;) to go see The Harlem Globetrotters, woohoo! The 2014 'Fans Rule' tour is going strong, and last night they made a stop in Michigan.
 |
Globie was there, with his cute self. |
The show was so good! Globie was there, the team mascot, and he was fun to watch. The guy had some good moves too,
 |
Dancing across the Court |
as did The Harlem Globetrotters.
 |
See the Globetrotter in the Audience? |
There was a lot of audience interaction, and some funny skits. The Slow Motion skit was my favorite, and one of my children roared when a guy got his shirt 'torn off' while he was on the court. The bucket scenes (where they throw buckets full of confetti into the audience) were hilarious because every single time people jumped and ducked like there was water in them. ;)
 |
There were tricks to be seen, & yes the Globetrotters have a lady, and she was awesome! |
 |
See the ball behind his back? These guys were spot-on with their tricks. |
There were tricks to be displayed,
 |
Taunting the opposing team |
Jeering to be done,
 |
Stuck in the basket (the player, not the ball). :) |
and a game to be played. Unless one of the players got stuck in the basket. ;)
It was an entertaining show, full of smiles start to finish, and if they're coming to your town, I hope you'll go and see them.

I have never seen them. I bet they put on a wonderful show!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to go if they come around your way. It was a fun show!
DeleteHi Rosie .. it sounds as though you all had fun - and that's what counts .. gosh they're tall aren't they?! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteSome of 'em were pretty tall. ;) And it was loads of fun, Hilary. :)
DeleteThe HGT have been around a long, long time. You shake my memory as I now remember seeing them over 60 years ago. Think of all the players they go through. Ha I bet their performance was as fine now as it was back then.
ReplyDeleteSorry the car is on the fritz. Nothing more annoying.
My in-laws have seen them, and said they loved them too. I'm glad we finally got to go. And you're right, car troubles are annoying...especially when full-coverage insurance and factory warranties don't cover the problem. :/
DeleteSorry about your husband's car. It's always something. The show does look like fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa. That's what my husband says too, that it's always something, lol.
DeleteThe show was great!! I bet your boys would love it. :)
I just read Manzi's comment. I was thinking before reading that, "They have been around a long time." And, she confirmed it. I have never seen them live, but I think I would like it... and I am not a big b-ball fan. So there.
ReplyDeleteThey do more playing than playing, if that makes a bit of sense. ;) I think it'd be a fun job to have...traveling around being funny, dancing, and playing ball. :)
DeleteMany years ago, when I was still in High School, the Harlem Globe Trotters came to our school. Our HS basket ball team got to play them and it was so funny.
ReplyDeleteMy husband saw them play against Michigan State years ago. :) That's fun that they came to your high school!
DeleteI have seen the globetrotters, but have yet to take my boys. I need to get on that because I know they would love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty fun. Get there early if it's first come-first serve seating. ;)
DeleteQuite the show it sounds like indeed, never seen them near my feed. Ouch to the $500 bucks too
ReplyDeleteThey've got the art of entertainment down to a T. :)
DeleteOh fun! I remember the excitement of going to a globe trotters game as a kid - but haven't taken my own family. Looks like great fun!
ReplyDeleteThe kids laugh pretty hard at some of their bold antics. That's probably the best best best part. ;)
DeleteThey were here and I missed them!! :/ Grr, I was so angry. Now I'm jealous. I won't miss them next time, for sure.
ReplyDeleteCrossing my fingers and toes for you that you catch them next go around. :)
DeleteOh, I bet this was a lot of fun to watch. I bet my kids would have loved it....maybe their Mommy too.
ReplyDeleteMy kiddos' mommy liked it. ;) Dad did too. :)
DeleteI remember seeing the Globetrotters when I was younger... my dad took me. Great experience for the whole family!
ReplyDeleteIt really is a nice family-fun event. I'm glad you've seen them too!
DeleteI'm glad you were able to (ouch!) get the car problem solved.
ReplyDeleteYou tickled me with your mention of the Harlem Globetrotters...back in the very long ago my maternal grandmother was a HUGE fan and would attend any game they played in Indianapolis. Funny thing was: the team was a huge fan of hers as well! She always had tickets waiting for her and whoever took her; right behind their bench. They would call her out and introduce her to the fans at half-time, and every game she could attend 'Curly' would give her a big hug and tell her to rub his head for good luck.
Those games were the highlight of her year!
I bet that was awesome for her!!
DeleteOne of the players took a young man out who had Downs Syndrome. He was thrilled!! When 'mom' (I'm guessing it was mom) was obviously flustered that she couldn't get up to get a good angle on a picture, the player saw that and went back to the young man to pose. Very class act! They also took some kids out on the court, and were very gracious in making sure the applause was wild even if a basket was missed. ;) You can tell the team has a lot of heart and soul (on and off the court).
I want to take my three year old to see them when they come back this way. I love the fan interaction!
ReplyDeleteIf it's first-come/first-serve seating, get there early to get up front. They did go higher up, but the front few rooms got a lot of very cool attention. :)
DeleteI hear they give such a great show! I always wanted to go with the kids, just have not had the chance.. i always find out after the fact.
ReplyDeleteThere's a tour link in the post if you wanna check it. :) This was a show for all ages!! Everyone was dancing and laughing. :)
DeleteI know these guys are super athletic, but I'll bet they are also comedic and impressive, too. Fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's the best word to describe the show (fun). :)
