Tidbit Tuesday

Just posting about some random things that came to mind, today. Tidbits, if you will.

See that box top on the bottom left-hand corner of the box?  They used to be on the tear tab on the top of the boxes...so easy to get.  Now a good number of them are situated in the hardest to reach places on the package. Are box tops such a big deal now that they're being ripped off of boxes without people paying for the product?  That's all I can think of because it just doesn't make sense otherwise to put them there.

I spotted the little ones eating from the front window a couple of days ago.  I stepped out on the porch to get a better picture.  I guess the one on the far right was the designated watchman. He/she kept watch of me watching them, while the other two continued to eat.  When I went back in the house, that one started to eat again too.

My daughter-in-law sent this to me in an e-mail the other day and it filled me with happies and giggles. Look who's climbing up stairs on her own. :)  Little sweet grandbaby girl is, that's who. :)  You see that look of curious determination on her face?? Atta' girl!

For St. Patrick's Day we created a craft we saw on another blog.  We may or may not have gotten a bit carried away with making paper chains. :)

And last, but not least, the sun's been shining! Three days running we've seen the glorious bright sky. What a great switch from the gray ones we've had all winter. The cold weather's been rough on the yard though. The trees have a lot of pieces broken off, and there's big ruts from the ice.  It's going to take a whole weekend to get it cleaned up. I'm ready to do it too, excited even, just waiting for all of the snow to melt so I don't have to do any re-dos. :)

This picture is back by our wooded pond area where there are a ton of trees, so it's worse than the front yard, but the front has it's share of clean-up to be done too. Boy, does it.  :)  I'm glad it's getting warmer. It makes me happy. Peppy even. :)

Your granddaughter is adorable and hoping that the snow and ice melt now very soon too :)

Wonderful pics!

I feel the same way about those box tops. Why do they call them box TOPS when they're usually everywhere but on top? Makes me crazy when my son needs them for school...

Masshole Mommy said...

You nailed it - those boxes are a pain in the butt to cut off sometimes!! I don't know why they have to place them in the most absurdly difficult to get at locations on the box like that.

I am with you on the box tops... they are so weirdly placed now...
Hope the sun keeps shining your way :)

The baby girl on the third pic, cute!

I don't think you went crazy with the paper chains. The more the merrier. :)

Your grand baby is so cute!

The climbing part always scared me. As long as you're right by them I'm ok with it. Mica used to climb up on the back of the sofa, and just stand there. It totally sent me into panic mode.

The deer are so pretty! That's great you get that view some days.

Good luck on the cleanup and before you know it she'll be driving on her own to come visit grandma haha

I used to make paper chains with my son way back when. He'll be 44 in August.

I'm so happy you are getting some sunshine. It does pep one up. Good for you.

Have a fabulous day. ☺

Wonderful photos! Your Granddaughter is precious. =)
I agree with you on the Boxtops!

I think you are right about the Box Tops. I saw on the news (last year) that people were ripping the box tops off the packages in the store.

mail4rosey said...

She's such a sweetie. :) And you must be home from vacation! I'm headed over to visit.

mail4rosey said...

It's melting bit by bit. The forecast calls for snow tomorrow though, so we'll see if that gets put on hold.

mail4rosey said...

You have to tear the box apart to get to it, and sometimes you need those tops before you're done using what's in there, lol.

mail4rosey said...

They should be called box not-tops. :)

mail4rosey said...

Hubby called a little while to say snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. I was surprised (though how silly that I was, all things considered this winter). :)

mail4rosey said...

Thank you, she's a sweetheart!

Lawna Noe said...

Hmm... I was wondering why they are beginning to do those to the box tops. I bet that is the reason why!

mail4rosey said...

My youngest was SUCH a climber, and you're right that time was scary sometimes.

We do have some really great views sometimes. I like the wildlife.

mail4rosey said...

Whew, I'll be REALLY old then, slow down wouldja'? :)

mail4rosey said...

I bet he still remembers stuff like that too. I'm 43 and I remember such things from my childhood. :)

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Melissa. Her mom and dad are super lucky, she's a little sweetheart. :)

mail4rosey said...

ha! I knew it. ;)

On second though, gah. It must have cost them a lot to re-do the boxes, and you know we'll end up seeing those cost hikes.

mail4rosey said...

Silly people (the consumer ripping off the tops). Now it's a pain instead of super easy. But... we'll keep using them. :)

She's already climbing the stairs? Oh my goodness! Seems like she was just born yesterday. Sheesh!

Your grandbaby is a honey - and I love the deer too.

Theresa Mahoney said...

Is she climbing stairs already? I feel like you were just celebrating her birth!

I've noticed that about the boxtops too. Someone must be swiping them. I remember a few years back when they started those Pamper Points. People had no shame ripping them off the packs in the stores. Such disgusting behavior comes out of some people when free things are offered.

mail4rosey said...

I think it went fast too, Tammy!

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Keith. She's a sweet little girlie too. :)

Karen Glatt said...

I dislike those hard to open packages! Why do they put the box tops in such a bad place! Your grandbaby is getting big and she is now out and about exploring! She is such a doll. I loved seeing your son with his cool hat on. He is such a cutie! I am so glad that it has warmed up too! I love the sun on my skin. And great pics of the deer out by your house.

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, she's a sweetheart.

I like to see the deer wandering around the yard. It makes me happy. :)

mail4rosey said...

I feel like she was just born too!! :)

I've seen ugly behavior with free things, and I've heard about it too on the blogs (w/the swag bags at big events). While it makes you laugh maybe, it's really not funny. ESPECIALLY when things like that lead to my box tops being relocated. ;)

mail4rosey said...

I used to take the sun for granted when I lived in a warm state. Now like you're saying, when it hits my skin it just feels so nice!!! Hurrah for Spring being well on its way. :)

Jen said...

We saw so many deer when we lived in Arizona it was crazy! Love seeing them all over.

mail4rosey said...

I didn't realize they would be lose in a warm area like that...that is a cool fact!

becca said...

Aw what cute children so sweet and wow beautiful deers.

Holy Ghost Writer said...

I think that is why they must be doing it to the boxes

Julie Maloney said...

Those boxtops are going to cause me to lose a finger, especially the ones on cans.

Launna said...

I am feeling peppy just reading about three days of sunshine, we had it today but it was still quite cold out... The deer are beautiful... we don't see that in the city :)

Binky said...

I loved making paper chains! I don't know why.

Julie Carlyle said...

All such lovely images but I do like the one of your grand daughter about to climb the stairs, she does look determined.

Julie Carlyle said...

Sorry, that comment was from Gourmet Getaways in case you don't know who Julie is :)

Kristi Maloney said...

Your granddaughter is so adorable. Already climbing the steps? She is growing up too fast! :) It's nice that you get to see so many deer in your neck of the woods. Looks like a fun project you made with your son.....AND Amen to the warm weather! :)

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Becca. :)

mail4rosey said...

and the rest of us pay for the repercussions. ;)

mail4rosey said...

Our school is doing 'boys vs. girls' so the kids are all amped up to collect them. ;)

mail4rosey said...

When I went out this morning, it was raining, which it's supposed to do all day. phft. ;)

Mel@Mellywood's Mansion said...

I can't believe she's walking upstairs already, clever girl. The deer picture is so beautiful.

mail4rosey said...

My son loved making them too. ;)

mail4rosey said...

I knew who you were. :) Thanks for visiting!

mail4rosey said...

The snow's 3/4 of the way gone now, and I have to admit it's nice!! I'm so looking forward to getting out and about again!

mail4rosey said...

Seems like grandbaby time moves faster even than your own child time. And the latter moves pretty darn fast. :)

Henrietta said...

Aww! What a sweet little grandbaby! And love those paper chains your son made, they're always a fun craft! We've had warmer temps and sun the past few days as well, finally! But, today it is dreary and I think ran/snow is on its way back!

Colette S said...

I feel the same way about the box tops. I really try to get them all when it's on something I purchase, but come on, I really can't get it off the biscuits thing. It's oily and ew.

I'd say that was the lookout man for the deer too :) Funny eh.
The kids would have loved to watch these too.

Wasn't she just born!! Gosh they get up and go so fast! :) Just the cutest!

That's a pretty cute craft. Love the color too!

Your son is really growing!

Jennifer Van Huss said...

What a great post! I love how personal it is!!

Kenya G. Johnson @ KenyaGJohnson.com said...

Love that look of determination. I imagine that they have since put up a baby gate ;-)

That does make sense about the box tops. In the beginning of the school year we are pretty good about getting them off but just like school gets toward the end of the year - we get tired of doing it.

Your granddaughter is such a doll!

mail4rosey said...

I just went out to warm up my car and there's snow and ice out there. gah

The sun was nice while it was here though, and it's not long now until it's back for a good long while (I hope). :)

mail4rosey said...

My son doesn't even look like a baby anymore Colette. ;)

Speaking of growing babies, hurrah for your pretty girl's birthday!! I loved your post! http://www.jamericanspice.com/2014/03/and-just-like-that-shes-half-way-to.html

I think we are all real happy that Spring has almost sprung! I managed to get bronchitis, a head cold, a sore throat and a runny nose all at the same time (which is why it took so long to get to this post)--Still have it all but did go to the doctor--At a clients about 3 weeks ago we saw 5 deer out the window-3 were very ypung and all three were watching us as we watched them!

When we lived on our 100 acres, we seen a lot of deer, now not so much. Kind of miss those days.

Nice tidbit post, I love the picture of your grand baby!

mail4rosey said...

They get very competitive at my son's school w/the girl/boy contest thing. Consequently, box tops are a big deal to my son. ;)

mail4rosey said...

Gah, that's a lot to handle at one time!! I hope you're better soon!

mail4rosey said...

Thanks for swinging over, Jennifer. :)

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, she is so scrumdiliumptious to us. :)

mail4rosey said...

I'll miss the wildlife if/when we move too. :)

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Jamie. She's def. getting big fast on us. :)

The deer are so close! That must be beautiful to sit and watch them on a nice morning, maybe with a cup of coffee!

I always get happy when I see them. I think they're awesome.

such a sweet photos. I am frustrated with he box top situation too, Sometimes I have to tear the whole thing apart to cut it out. I save them all in a jar for our elementary grade grandchildren. Thank you for sharing your lovely blog at the Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop xo
