I woke up this morning thinking, "gah, I wish I didn't have to go outside in the cold to clean off the car and shovel the driveway." I quickly changed that thinking to, "thank goodness we have cars that run well," and "thank goodness for the warm house to come back into." Not everyone is so lucky. I know it is no small thing.
I got outside and it had rained all night (melting a ton of the snow), so I ended up not having to do either, woot!
In other tidbit news, I'm loving my new camera. I went from summer to Christmas with a cheapie camera (cut it out of the plastic container it was hanging up to display in, kind of cheapie) we picked up in Chicago at the CVS when my camera decided to break (on vacation, of course). ;) That felt like such a long time to go with a cheapie, and it took disposable batteries. Boy, did I go through some batteries!! SO so so soooo nice to have a good camera again.
Just for kicks and grins I took two pictures this morning, one with the cheapie, and one with the newbie:
Old Camera |
New Camera |
It may not seem like much of a difference to you, but to me it surely does. The cheapie camera had more dark pictures than not, never took a good shot if something was moving, and I'd say had a 2/10 record (2 out of 10 shots would be acceptable) for taking a decent picture. The new camera just gets the picture on the first shot. I couldn't be more pleased. :)
My last thought of the post: Hubby's school started back up and he's busy w/Financial Accounting and Statistics, bwuahahhaaa. So glad I'm done with actual classes. By the end, I was just ready to be done. That being said, I'd better get busy editing some last minute changes I've made on my dissertation. I'm about to turn in the next chapter to my adviser. I'm so ready for that to be done too, but we've still got two more trips to Nebraska (where my school is) to take...so it's going to be awhile.
No kids up and running around the house yet, and it's 9:30!!! I do love Saturday mornings. :) Wishing each and every one of you a happy weekend. :)
I love Saturdays too here and yay for the new camera. I totally see the difference and glad you finally got a new one! Happy Saturday and have a great weekend now :)
ReplyDeleteThat is great that you got a camera that you really love! O think it rained here last night as well-and it is foggy out there right now-but will be off in a little while to take my Mom on her errands and mine (only one can of cat food left in the apartment--DANGER)-I do not miss college at all-nor do I miss working full time as a bookkeeper (I am now semi retired). Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new camera! I am dying to get a really good camera, like a DSLR. Not in the budget right now, but someday!
ReplyDeleteThe new one is much brighter than the cheapie. Yeah i was so glad for the friggin classes to be done too.
ReplyDeleteOh I can totally see the difference in the pictures. I would be so excited if I were you, too!! Weekends are usually pretty hectic around here, but I am thinking maybe we'll tone it down this weekend because it's supposed to rain all weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you too! What kind of camera did you end up getting? I'd love to get a DSLR. I've been looking for a used one to save on cost.
ReplyDeleteSaturdays are my favorite too! And Financial Accounting... sounds like fun! :) But probably only to an accountant. Haha.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! And yay for a new camera!
Kate
What a huge difference in those pix. We're sure to see some great photos here in the future.
ReplyDeleteThe kids love to sleep in when they can. That's a really nice thing unless you need to go somewhere. I so remember that too.
ReplyDeleteYou new camera is way better. I can see the clarity in the last photograph that's not in the first photograph.
You all have a fabulous weekend too. ☺
I can definitely tell a difference in cameras, especially since I took some courses in photography. In fact, I bought a new camera before the Holidays because I was tired of my oldish (2 years, maybe?) camera because it wasn't producing the pictures I wanted. So funny how a new camera can change the perspective on a picture, huh?
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! Happy Saturday to you! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the new camera you have --pixs are great--thanks for sharing--- Saturdays-- they are so lazy till the afternoon here-- it seems like its the only morning of the week we all go awwwwww-- because we are so busy the other six days-- we just dont seem to be motivated in the winter months on Saturdays-- but its way ok. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats. on the new camera. It takes a great photo. Did you say what kind?? Anyway, I see you have a pomegranate in the picture. I've been eating those lately. Very good for ya! A little difficult to pick them out, but worth the effort. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a tremendous showing of positivity today. Not everyone will agree with me, but I do think that everything responds to our energy. If we bring positive energy, positive things tend to happen. (Am I saying that your positive energy changed the weather? No. However, you were prepared to be positive no matter the outcome. Snow. No snow.)
ReplyDeleteI wake up and say "God, thank you for this day," Now, I wish I could say that positivity carried me through my entire day. Sometimes, yes. Sometimes, no. But, I like to at least start it right.
As for your new camera.... the picture is noticeably brighter. Maybe you wouldn't have appreciated it quite so much if you hadn't had the other one for the last six months.
You're sweet, Robin. I already knew that though. :)
DeleteHappy Saturday! You and Janine are of like minds today: being thankful! Congrats on the new camera! I DO see the difference!
ReplyDeleteI love Saturdays, too. However, I've been working this morning. :(
ReplyDeleteI had to really look hard to tell the difference between the two photos. I finally saw it after I read the word "darker." I'm afraid had you not mentioned that, I'd still be trying to figure out the difference.

Good camera is SO important! I agree with you. The difference might be minimal there but in general quality it's huge. I has medium quality camera and I really would like to have a good one. Right now my ratio is 5/5. Five goods ones, five ready for the trash.
ReplyDeleteNice camera that you got and I can tell that the picture with the new camera does look better. I like the weekends too! I like to hear that you find things to be thankful for. It does help to be upbeat because it helps me get through the day! I hope your school is going good. You sure are smart!
ReplyDeleteYay! A new camera! :) What kind is it?
ReplyDeleteI looked forward to this weekend all week long. Now that it is here, I am enjoying every minute of it.
What a difference a good camera makes. Yay! for the weekend!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on new camera! I wasn't that lucky this Saturday morning cause my youngest one was banging & moving in his room at 5am. I think nap is in order :)
ReplyDeleteI have had both kinds of cameras and the extensive ones really take the best pictures for the most part:) I love the weekends... especially Saturdays... Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by to see Nicole, she is such a doll :)
It is a blah day here. I think your newer camera took a better pic and shows the colors slightly better.
ReplyDeleteI want a new camera too and I love pomegranates! it has been cold, dark and dreary here in Toronto as well and I have so much to do, I am checking some blogs as my husband drives us to a dinner and this morning I had to do makeup for a very rambunctious bridal party.

yay for a new camera and I can totally tell a difference especially in the color of the oranges in the back!
ReplyDeleteStarting the day with a positive attitude can make all the difference in the world. You can choose to face the day with a smile on your face and gratitude in your heart, or you can wake up grumpy. (OR... you can let him sleep in...)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new camera! The old camera didn't take a terrible picture... in fact, it looked pretty good to me... but the new one definitely took a better one. And what's more important, YOU like it!
I do like it. :) The old one had a terrible ratio of producing quality shots, most just had to be deleted. I was sure grateful to have it though, it was better than nothing. :) NOW, I'm glad it's a back up only. ;)
DeleteI can definitely see a difference in photo quality! It rained all night here too. I am so happy to be able to see the actual street now when I drive lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad my state isn't the only one that lets the lines blur on the street. We'll be the world's best driver's & not even know it (the silver lining of learning to drive in a state that doesn't much run their salt trucks). ;)
Deletei totally see the difference ;)
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see more pics with the new camera...
as for the rain... it rained BAD here over night and all morning... like roads flooding out... but- luckily we are not affected... and i think it has pretty much dried up now.
Awww, yeah I can see the difference of the old and new camera pictures. Weekends are just great isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI can see the difference the old camera had more shadow, the new camera has more light. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteOh sure - there was definitely a difference and I see it crystal clear! <3 Wondeful, I can't wait till you use more of it in your next blog posts
ReplyDeleteWell besides the new camera - you sure have a heck of a lot of things going on in your life!
ReplyDeleteI also love Saturdays, one of the best days of the week, my kids be up & ready for Saturdays, & congrats on the camera
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new camera and yes, I love Saturdays too - the best day of the week.
ReplyDeleteWe live in Missouri and we got that snow last weekend :( The kids were supposed to go back to school Monday the 6th but had ANOTHER full week off, so they ended up with a 3 week Christmas vaction rather than 2. And YAY for a new camera. The picture looks AMAZING! I am saving up a non cheapie camera as well lol. YAY for you and I am very jealous!
ReplyDeleteSometimes a change in perspective makes a world of difference.
ReplyDeleteMan I am just looking forward to Monday ... my guys ended up home for a whole extra week on break - 3 weeks, one house, three boys, 2 dogs, 1 husband ... snowed in. *shudders in memory* This week will be better *repeat until I believe!*
ReplyDeletelololol Hope this week is better for you. :)
DeleteI know what you mean about cameras. You really don't realize what all you've been missing until you get a better camera. The pictures say it all!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your new camera is great! More light and details. Good luck in finishing your dissertation. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mel. I can't wait to someday post an 'I'm done!!!" post. ;)
DeleteHappy weekend! I'm so glad you got your camera replaced :)
ReplyDeleteI wish my kids would sleep til 930!! Lucky duck! They're up at 6-7am on the weekends.. so much for sleeping in these days.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. In times like this, we have to appreciate everything that life throws at us
ReplyDeleteclasses are starting back up for me as well...busy busy...i was def glad for the weekend...even after a short week...it was nice to ease back in just a bit...
ReplyDeleteMy kids had 2 days off because of the weather. We were all so ready for them to be back on Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to get a good camera! I've been playing with the idea of asking for a new one for my birthday this summer! Right now I have a regular old camera, it's fine but not "amazing." Thanks for linking up with the Weekend Block Party!
ReplyDeleteThe new camera takes much clearer photos. I love that you used a pomegranite as a prop! Every Halloween I use to go trick or treating to a specific old womans house who would hand out pomegranites!
ReplyDeleteI also love Saturdays! I usually go shopping, have a coffee, or go to the spa.
Oh Rosie, I am feeling your pain. My hubs has just started up his FINAL YEAR!!!! 10 classes to go. Come hell or high water, we are going to graduate 2014!
ReplyDeleteHurrah to finished degrees. :)
DeleteI can certainly see the difference with the newbie. I'm actually looking for a new camera myself this year as an upgrade to my old one. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh Rosie, i know through the media of your cold wave. Good that you are paying attention to vitamins. This fruits looks delicious. Stay healthy!
ReplyDeleteGood Evening, Wieczora (◔‿◔)| My photoblog
Yay for a new camera! I got one for Christmas too. I love it!! Looks like a good pomegranate by the way. :)
ReplyDeleteWoot, hurrah for nice Santas!! :)
DeleteI hope you have fun with your new camera. Photography can be a very enjoyable hobby.
ReplyDeleteI was able to see the difference. =) Glad you got yourself an upgrade. What new cam are you using?
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your new camera....I need a new one too. Yep love those weekends. They come and go so quick though!
ReplyDeleteHi Rosey - you can see the difference with the new camera - that's great and so glad you're enjoying it ... then the weather warming up somewhat - must have made a few people happier ..
ReplyDeleteHave a great year ahead and good luck with the dissertation and finishing off your school work - good for you .. cheers Hilary
Yay for a camera that works huh?! You can really see the difference in the detail on the mat too!

New cameras are always awesome! I haven't had a new one in a while, but when I do, I just want to take photos everywhere for days, because I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday! I got a new camera too :) I love it though it's not a really expensive one it's got high mp. Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was relaxing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new camera, I know you're having fun with it. :)
DeleteA good camera makes a big difference. Have fun with your new camera :)
ReplyDeleteI try to change my thinking too. It's amazing how you have to be conscious about it right. I wonder how many people just let their minds lead them.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely tell a difference in those pics. Yay for you! I'm so glad you are excited about your new camera! Perfect gift and timing right.
Ahh school. I was just telling D that sometimes he wont feel like doing it, but just fortify and push through and remind himself that he is setting himself up for success :)
Good luck with the rest of it Rosey.
Thanks, Colette. I'm plugging along and going to keep repeating to myself what you said to D. :)
DeleteWow! I really could see the difference with the two pics. The clarity is great!
ReplyDeleteCongrats for the new camera Rosey! You are right the old one is darker. I would like to get a new camera too!! :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new camera! I am looking for one. Totally see a difference in the photos
ReplyDeleteYou won't see as much of a difference online. Blogger only lets you put them up small. I certainly can tell a difference though. It's great you got a new one. My Dad just got a super high end one on the clearance rack. That's the time to buy.
ReplyDeleteClearance is most def. good, especially when it comes to cameras! :)
DeleteAs the photographers wife, I can see a difference in your two photos ;-)
