Thomas Kinkade "Garden of Prayer"
LED Lantern Giveaway

Along With

Proudly Bring you the

Thomas Kinkade "Garden of Prayer" LED Lantern Giveaway
with
3 Winners

This is a review and giveaway for a product I have never seen, or even heard of, but I absolutely like it!! The lantern is unique, safe, and attractive. And I love Thomas Kinkade (he reminds me of Christmas). :)  What's not to love?? See the host's review of it below:

Enhance the beauty of your home, inside or out, with this long-lasting, contemporary, Metal LED Lantern that can be hung or stand alone. This elegant Coach Lantern features a battery-operated, plastic Flame-less LED Candle that provides a safe, beautiful glow like a real flame. As an added bonus, the lantern’s four glass panels have been inserted with decals of a painting titled “Garden of Prayer” by renowned artist, Thomas Kinkade, that provides a perfect place for those seeking a time of reverent renewal and a moment of solitude to be with their God! In addition, the lantern includes an on/off timer that conveniently turns on at the same time everyday for 6 hours and off for 18 hours.

This beautiful lantern will add class to any setting. It's sides reflect the graceful painting
of Thomas Kinkade in his original "Garden of Prayer painting as shown below.

The thing we like about our lantern is the fact you can have it turn
on at dusk, then turn off six hours later saving on your battery life. It's
LED flame-less candle looks like you have a real flame inside. My
next door neighbor asked me how I was able to get the flame to
stay lit so long, she was totally surprised to find out it was powered
by a LED flame-less battery operated candle.

Super Sunday Sync starts Tonight at 9pm (see note)

Good gravy, Super Sunday Sync starts on a Sunday, not on a Friday...never mind me.  No IDEA what I was thinking when I scheduled it to go. The linky will go back up tonight at 9pm EST. Sorry for the confusion and I feel really, really dumb.  I hope that won't keep you from coming back, and linking up.

If you've already linked up (thank you!), your link will still be there!!

Pretty sure Dawn and Kera were probably less than thrilled with my gaffe, but bless their hearts they didn't say one unkind word. Thank you ladies!

Reusable Ground Protection Mats Build Roads and Save Money

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post.

For building temporary roadways, groundprotection mats from Quality Mat are an industry-leading choice. Since the mid-1970s when Quality Mat Company invented the rig mat as we know it today, oil companies and pipeline contractors have depended on their mats for handling the biggest and the smallest jobs with ease. Providing a reliable source of safety and stabilization, ground protection mats are made from full contact treated wood, oak, and steel. Each mat can last up to 15 years in the field and can bear higher loads than conventional heavy machinery and equipment.

Protecting the ground below from the harshest abuse by the treads and tires of the machines protects both the environment and the construction equipment from damage. At 2140 pounds, a full truckload can carry 21 mats at a time, cutting your transportation costs by 40%. With their recyclability, you can reuse these mats many times over; making sure you get the most for your money.

Generally used for building pipelines or constructing temporary roads, these ground protection mats are designed to leave the area of the worksite exactly as you found it when the job is complete. If you’re looking for the solution to your access road building and ground protection problems, Quality Mat has the answer.

Zazoo Kids Photo Clock (Review & Giveaway)

Disclosure: I received a product to help facilitate the review. No other form of compensation took place. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

I've got a fun review and giveaway today!! Zazoo Kids has created a photo clock that is so much more than a clock. This clock is also a rotating digital photo frame, audio book player, music player, and maybe most important, a guide to help children know when it is okay to get out of bed, and when they should stay put.

The side of the clock has a USB port and slots for SD cards or flash drives, which makes uploading a cinch. Or there are photos, music, and stories already programmed into the clock.

The back has a sturdy fold-out leg to ensure stability.

The remote control that comes with it is simple to use (my 5-yr. old can do it with ease) or there are buttons on the back to navigate you through the menu.

The Zazoo photo clock is for everyone, but is exceptionally awesome for early risers. Using visuals for children that are easy to understand, such as a bright yellow sunshine, or a night time theme such as a moon, the clock allows children to know when they can or should not get out of bed. There is also a separate photo alarm for nap time, which helps little ones know when it's time to get up or stay in bed a little longer. You can program any picture you want for the two separate nap time alarms too (or use one already loaded).

For the older children, a traditional digital time display can be used in lieu of the colorful children's pictures, making it a clock that easily grows with your child. There is also a headset feature, if children want to plug in their earrbuds or headphones to listen to their music (or stories/audio books for the younger crowd).

There are many frame styles to choose from, for boys or girls, or there are neutral designs. We selected the fish frame above. There are also special displays you can purchase, many for less than one dollar, that denote things like "First Day of School," "Good Morning Anna (insert your child's name here)," holidays, etc.  I think that is a nice addition that can help keep the clock fun.

Breaking down the pros and cons after using it for a week:

Pros:
Nice bright colors
Completely personalizable
Easy to navigate
Easy to program
Multiple ways to upload movies, stories, songs, and/or pictures
Separate alarms for naps
When it's unplugged it doesn't reset everything, so you can move it from place to place without starting the programming from scratch

Other Pros as noted by Zazoo Kids:
Kids get more sleep
Parents get more sleep
Healthy sleep patterns are developed

Cons:
We had one freeze when I was testing it. That could have been from me pressing too many things, too quickly, but I thought I should mention it. Unfreezing it was as easy as unplugging it for a few seconds.

The Zazoo Kids Photo Alarm Clock is easily way better than any standard alarm clock I've come across, and because it can be used by children of any age effectively, whether they can tell time or not, it gets a huge thumbs up from me.

My son sleeps great, and goes to bed when he is supposed to, but for the child who has a challenge with it, this could be so useful and make bedtime/wake-up time so much less stressful that it might otherwise be.  I highly recommend the company and the product.

You can learn more about the Zazoo Kids, Wake-Up Clock by visiting their website here:
http://www.zazookids.com/

You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and/or YouTube.

One lucky winner is going to get to choose from their top three favorite frame styles by entering on the Rafflecopter form below. US Entrants only.

The Christopher Chronicles (Review & Giveaway- 2 winners!).

"My son is the gift that keeps on giving. I may not always know where he's coming from but he teaches me something new and amuses me every day.  And that my friends, is why I wrote this book."
-from the forward in The Christopher Chronicles:  Age 5

"This book is for every adult who has ever been left speechless by a child and had to hold back their laughter." ~Antoinette Dickson
-from back cover of the book

Many of you know Kenya from "Here's the Thing." She's a blogger, an author, and my bloggy friend. Some of her posts are downright hilarious, so it just naturally falls into place that her book, The Christopher Chronicles is funny too. Written to document the humorous things her son has said during the course of being 5, it's also a book that every parent is going to laugh at, or agree with when they're thinking of their own children.

The cover is an awesome illustration of her son, but don't let that fool you, it's written for the grown ups. Full of excerpts, quips, and laugh-out-loud moments, this book is great to curl up with and read when you want to relax and have a good chuckle (or ten). It's also a fun gift idea, and a most excellent addition to any bookshelf.

This book is recommended for:

  • Mothers
  • Fathers
  • Baby Showers
  • Pastors
  • Grandparents
  • Sunday/school teachers
  • Members of the Military
  • Anyone who needs a bright spot in their day - just because

Learn more about the book or buy a copy of your own on Amazon (Kindle version available too!).

If you're looking for an autographed copy, you can get that too:  http://kenyagjohnson.com/the-christopher-chronicles

You can follow Kenya on her website found here, her blogFacebookTwitterG+ and/or Pinterest.

Two lucky winners are going to get a book of their own. The giveaway format is a little different than usual. Instead of random selection, the winners will be the two people who share this post the most on their social networks (Facebook, Twitter, G+, etc. ), until the giveaway ends.

Important: Be sure if you're coming back to enter again that you use the same name to enter every time, for tracking purposes.

If you already own the book, and would like to help get the word out you can share this review/giveaway so someone else might see it too. :)

It Really was a Par-tay!

Last week I mentioned my son went to a back-to-school bash. This was hosted by our church, and open to the entire community. We went, expecting a few games, and a nice time out & about.

When we got there we were so surprised to see it really was a 'back-to-school' bash. All along one side of the event were fun things for kids. The sno-cones were a big hit with my son.

So was the face painting (which I held the sno-cone for, and may or may not have sampled). ;)

On the other side of the event were tons and tons of school-oriented things to do and things for the kids to take home. There was fire safety instruction, a table full of school supplies pre-bagged in large freezer bags, healthy snack tables where you created your own snack and learned about healthy eating, dental hygiene products where they reiterated the importance of caring for your teeth, water bottles, and more (they really went all out).

His new comb, and clearly he had enough hair to hold it
w/no hands, indicating the need for a good haircut. ;)

Then there were services, like manicures, fingernail/toenail painting, and haircuts!  We had 'haircut' on the list of things we needed to do before school starts anyway, so we took a number for that one. Little man got to pick out a comb to keep (which for some reason delighted him), and we waited for our turn. They assigned numbers and called you in, groups of ten, so that lines never got too long.

On the backside of the building they had hay rides.

I thought they were just going to entail a quick trip around the building, but they took us through the woods, and made it into an event.

And then you could come back around and play in the bounce house, or on the inflatables.

It was amazing all they put out for the kids, and there was a good showing.  The best thing, everything was free!

This is the first time I've seen an event like this (when we lived in Palm Beach there were far too many people to do an event like this, I think), and I liked it! Kudos to the church for hosting such a family-friendly and useful event for the community. I was so happy with it that I think I'll volunteer to help next year, if they do it again. Do you have something like this that goes on where you are located?

Alphabet Flash Cards (from Educational Toys Planet)

Disclosure: I received a sample product from Tomoson and Educational Toys Planet to help facilitate this review. No other form of compensation took place. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Educational Toys Planet, founded in 2002, began as a company trying to bridge the gap between what manufacturers were commonly offering to children, and what it was parents were actually looking for, in terms of making learning very real, but also fun. They have an excellent motto of "being glad to be a part of the solution." I love that, and know that those of you who are parents/caregivers, love it too.

They have many items to choose from (I've got my eye on a cool looking world map puzzle I saw while browsing through), and they have a very user-friendly website. Able to search through the site using tools such as 'age,' 'category,' and 'skills,' I found it fun instead of tedious to navigate, when browsing through their large inventory.

Many of you know that I have a 5-yr. old. He's still on summer vacation, and though we have been working with on keeping his skills fresh, and learning new things (and reading...we're always reading!), I wanted to get some flash cards to keep him on his toes with his sounds. He knew all of them like the back of his hand before school let out for the seasonal break, but has started to forget his vowel sounds a little bit, particularly mixing up 'i' and 'e' sounds, and he keeps using the 'y' sound for 'u.'  What's a mom to do? Alphabet flash cards to the rescue!

Alphabet flash cards from Educational Toys are nice because they come with 26 capital letters, and 26 lowercase letters, all with a colorful picture on the back that illustrates the sound (like 'A' for 'alligator).

I like that they are singular and not the traditional kind of flash card where you have a capital letter on one side, and a lowercase on the other. Having just one letter per card makes them better for sorting, creating games, and the like.

They're made of a nice card stock, have a rounded edge for fast sorting, and have colorful characters and pictures on the front that are drawn with major kid-appeal. And of course, they're extremely portable. You can toss these in your purse and take them on the go. We have used them in the car and while waiting for our dinner to be served at a restaurant.

You can find them on the website by searching the age category. These cards are listed as toys for ages 3, 4, and 5.

To learn more about the website, visit them here: http://www.educationaltoysplanet.com
You can also follow them on G+, Twitter, Pinterest, and/or Facebook.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Okabashi Shoe Review & Giveaway (for men or women)

Disclosure: I received a sample item to facilitate an honest review. No other form of compensation took place and all opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Summer's making its way out, but it 'ain't over yet!' Not just yet anyway. Our kids still have a week of summer vacation left, and the weather that turned cool early in the season (and stayed that way) has gotten hot again.  Crazy, I know, but true.

Warm weather for me means many things, including flip-flops! You have no idea how glad I was when this type of shoe came in style again. I was even more ecstatic when durable, pretty designs started popping up left and right. Long gone are the days of flip-flops that hurt your toes, and in their place are these wonderful, comfy shoes that allow you to be casual and cool.

Okabashi understands the need for quality and cute, and has created a line of attractive, very sturdy shoes that are 100% recyclable. The amount of waste saved because of that is astounding, and I encourage you to read about it here:  http://www.okabashi.com/Recycle/b/2493603011?ie=UTF8&title=Recycle  The shoes are made in a Georgia factory, so transportation costs are minimized, and the local economy gets a boost as well. Okabashi shoes are also 100% Vegan and they come with a 2-year guarantee (win-win-win-win-win!).

I totally need to get these to wear when I garden. :D

The bottoms of these shoes are hard, not pliable, so added protection is a given, they have a built-in arch support, and they are comfortable enough to wear all day (which I have done many times since I received mine). There are many colors and styles to choose from. I was presented with the very first pair pictured at the top of this post, and another sampling of what is offered can be found below.

Just a very small sampling of colors and designs. There are many others available!

You can learn more about Okabashi and their shoes by visiting their website: http://www.okabashi.com

You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and/or Pinterest, and be sure to check out their photo gallery here (it's one of the cutest I've seen).

Get that Garage Organized!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post.

If you're in the process of a large do-it-yourself project, you know how frustrating it can be to spend a lot of time with a disorganized garage workplace. Just the time you need the special fasteners that you ordered for the kitchen island you're building for your house, you find that they're still in the box beneath the stack of sliding shelf assemblies you're using.

If you have a nicely organized cabinet set, these issues do not arise because you have the work room. Everything is labeled and in its proper place, even the drill bits you plan to use. Organization like this is made even easier with a cabinet set from Garage Appeal. They sell cabinet sets in the most popular brands and levels of durability.
You might want a New Age Pro Series cabinet set made from 18 gauge welded seal steel. No matter what you do to these cabinets, they'll protect your tools. Locks are standard on all the cabinet sets, so you can protect your valuable assets from pilferage and theft. All the sets they sell are durable and can be customized and configured to your needs.

You'll be pleased at the variety and prices of GarageAppeal.com garage cabinet sets. Their service is prompt and direct.

My Child's Social Calendar is Full

It's hysterical to me, and slightly pitiful too, that my 5-yr. old son's social calendar is much busier than his mother's. ;)

Back-to-School Bash

Last week alone I took him to a birthday party, a going-away party, and a back-to-school bash. The teacher he had last year created this awesome board on Shutterfly where parents could add pictures they'd taken throughout the year and everyone could see/order them (love that idea). The board, however, also allows messages and everyone gets an e-mail when one goes up. That meant the kids could stay in touch over the summer. It's been fun, and I really, really like the concept.

There is a child inside of that ball. :)

We've been to a handful of events this summer, and a good number of the kids in the class showed up to each of them. It's fun for them to have others their age to play with, and it's exciting to see your schoolmates over the break.

One mom had her son's birthday party at the local park and I thought that was brilliant. Dad cooked burgers and hotdogs on the grill, coolers of juice boxes and water were brought, and a few toys were brought along for novelty (like the big ball above). The playground provided the rest of the entertainment for the kids. And the cool, sheltered pavilion was a haven for the parents who wanted to be able to socialize, see their kids at all times, and stay out of the heat.

Going away party

The going-away party we went to a couple of days ago was bittersweet. The little girl on the far left is someone my son is sad to see moving. She's just a real sweetheart, but moving's sometimes a part of life, and her dad got a great job, so...we're just happy for her family, but she'll be missed. That card in my son's right hand is something he made for her. I love how the little ones put so much effort into appreciating one another. :)

In any case, summer's closing down now and school will be back in session before we know it. Then the kids' calendars REALLY get busy. But that's okay, I don't mind a bit. :)

Seat Pets (review)

Disclosure: We received a sample product to help facilitate the review. All opinions stated, however, are genuine and my own.

My son LOVES the commercials for Seat Pets and every time it comes on, without fail, he says he wants one. Imagine his surprise when I gave him the dog (his favorite) a couple of days ago, without warning.

Right away he wanted to test it out, which we did. He's too young to go out sans carseat, but he brought it along to snuggle and snooze. The Seat Pets have three pockets, one that zips for storage, which means everything can be tucked nicely into one spot. And they're nice and comfy. I like it for the car (for older kids who are not in the carseat), and I like it for the snuggle factor.

Mostly, I am anticipating its use on our next long airplane flight. It has a strap to carry it across your back (like a backpack), and it's very lightweight, so at 5-yrs.-old, my son can carry it with ease. The pockets mean my son can carry his things with him, have them in one spot. The support it offers means his head won't be hanging while he's trying to sleep (I hate when that happens, it's so hard to position them so they're comfy while they're sleeping in a car or airplane). You can see from the picture that it's nice and long too, almost a body pillow for the little guy.

Ours is in the house now and has a name (never mind the cute name it came with, that's irrelevant at this point), 'Doggy Dog.' I'll let you guess who named him. Hint: It's the same person who named his fish 'Fishy Fish.'

Have you seen these around? Would you use one in the car? My teen loves it and wants to steal it. I told her it's her brother's. She said she wants one for Christmas. I believe her...she takes a pillow anytime we're in the car longer than a couple of hours. :)  And...she may just get one, who knows? We'll leave that up to Santa Clause. ;)

You can learn more about Seat Pets by visiting their website here: https://www.seatpets.com

Hurrah, I was asked to co-host the Lovin' the Weekend blog hops event this weekend.

A big thank you to the three lovely hosts for having me on board.
I think it's safe to speak for all of us when I say we'd love to have you link up & hop around a bit. :)

Welcome to Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hops with your co-hosts:
Karen from Tots and Me, Rena from An Ordinary Housewife and Angie from Snack Cups and Smiles.

Thank you to every one who has stopped by, whether this is your first visit or you have been a faithful ongoing participant!

We would love for you to stop by each of the co-hosts and follow us, then feel free to add your links to any or all of the following linkies.

We also randomly choose a Featured host each week from the Lovin' The Readers linky. This week we are featuring Rosey from Mail4Rosey.

Here's what she has to say:

"I started Mail4Rosey just over a year ago. I liked giveaways, and visiting blogs, and thought it would be fun to start a blog of my own. I tinkered back and forth with the idea, worrying that the blog world was becoming over-saturated with newbies ( I didn't want to be talking to myself). Turns out, I had nothing to worry about: The blog world welcomes new bloggers with open arms, and I've met some really incredible people. Now something that was just an idea has turned into something really fun. I love blogging and everything that goes along with it, most especially I enjoy getting to know the other bloggers.

A big thank you to the lovely 'Lovin' the Weekend' blog hop hosts for giving me the opportunity to be the randomly selected featured host of the weekend (awesome!!). "

Don't forget to link up to the Lovin' the Readers Hop if you would like a chance to be a Featured host next week. Please comment with a way to contact you, especially if there is not an obvious way mentioned on your blog. We would love to include a little write up about you and your blog in the next week's Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hop post, including a link to your blog. And you will get to include the linky codes on your blog. Sound fun? We're looking forward to getting to know our readers better.

Here's how this blog hop works. We would appreciate it if you would follow Tots and Me, An Ordinary Housewife and Snack Cups and Smiles. And please don't forget to visit our Featured Host. If you no longer have GFC please follow in some other way. After that there are three different linkies you can link to. Whichever one you choose to link to, please grab that button and share it on your blog (the codes are on Tot's and Me's sidebar). We'd love it if you could tweet or in some other way share about this blog hop, the more people who know about it, the more potential visitors and new followers of your blog. We'd love to meet some new friends this weekend.

Some people are more interested in just increasing their numbers, while others really want people who appreciate their blog and want to keep up with their posts. So, there are two separate blog hop linkies.

The third linky is for you to link up your giveaways.

If you are interested in increasing the number of followers to your blog via GFC, Linky Followers, email, Twitter, Facebook or Google+ link up here. We will follow you back if you follow us (just note which one you are linking to):

Tots and Me

If you are interested in gaining followers to your blog who will read and comment and truly find an interest in your blog, link up here:

If you have family friendly giveaways to link up, here's your spot. Please make sure to include an end date for your giveaway.

Easy Canvas Prints (review & giveaway)

Disclosure: I received a product to sample, no monetary compensation took place. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.
Canvas
Photo on Canvas
For Mother's Day I had a canvas made for my mom of my four kids (her only grandchildren). I loved it so much it was hard to wrap it up and give it away. Luckily, it was for my mom, and that took precedence over me wanting to keep it.

I knew though, that I would want to have that exact picture made into a canvas for myself. Guess what I just did?  If you said 'had that canvas made,' thanks to Easy Canvas Prints, you would be 100% correct! :)

The proof from the website of my photo

To be honest, the canvas we received was a wee bit little lighter than I would have liked it to be, and the quality of the photo uploaded was a professional one (copyrighted CD from the photographer), but it still looks great on the wall, and so much nicer than just a traditional framed photo. We've got it hanging right when you walk in the house and people always notice it favorably.

When your kids start getting older, and move out, get married, etc., it's harder to get a picture of them together than it is when they're young. Last year for Christmas, my oldest and his wife thought a photo shoot would be a great gift idea for me (they were right!), and this was one of the pictures that came from that day. I'm so happy to have it now on canvas!

Easy Canvas Prints wears their name well, the process to create this canvas was, well, easy!  There are some great options too, for finishing your canvas. You can choose your wrap, I chose to wrap mine in black (around the sides). There were other colors though, and more options including a mirror wrap that was fun. There were also options for touch-up, framing, etc. The service is fully customizable and does allow you to create a print that is very personalized to your own taste.

Alissa from 'The Apels' had a review up not long ago that showed the image wrap border. It's really cool, especially if you have a nature print like she did. Her giveaway is over, but you can check it out for the review, and to see the border: http://theapels.blogspot.com/2013/08/easy-canvas-prints-review-and-giveaway.html

Would I use Easy Canvas Prints again? Absolutely.
Take a look at their website, and look around, if you'd like: http://www.easycanvasprints.com/
You can also follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter.
