Randomly Speaking

Just throwing out some random things today, and wishing everyone a happy weekend too!

We got a lot of snow this morning.  So much was anticipated that we got calls last night cancelling Breakfast with Santa at the local fire department, making the Christmas toy at the local hobby shop, and we got a call that the high school basketball team wasn't playing...but that's not relevant to us. ;)  So, a busy morning is now busy-free, and I'm the only one up. :)

Second random thought...my athletic shoes!!  I've noticed in the last year or so that my feet tingle in my Nike's.  I've worn Nike shoes here and there my whole life, now all of the sudden my shoe size is different? Seriously? And if it has to be different, why a half a size bigger, and not half a size smaller?  Sheesh. :)

Third random thought:  My car window went off track in the middle of winter, brr. It's not under warranty anymore so I took it to the shop, opting for the mall so I could look around for holiday gifts while we waited. $250 later it was fixed (because of course it needed other things done inside of that door panel...it couldn't be as simple as a jumped track).

Speaking of windows, a few weeks back hubby was in my car and a turkey flew up on the highway and hit the front window, cracking it so that it had to be replaced (and oy! to the poor turkey...it was in an SUV and on the highway, I'm guessing he didn't fare well...turkeys flying up and hitting the window???? Crazy). Car windows have not been our friend lately. Hopefully that's the end of that mess.

Two Christmas parties coming up (hurrah!), and then my kids start filing in over here. I'm getting excited, it's going to be so nice to have them all home!!  Have you got your shopping done?  We have not, not yet, but we're inching closer to it. :)

Thanks for visiting, and a big happy weekend to you! :)

  1. WOW a turkey hitting a window! That's a crazy visual. We get some around here. I've only seen one fly once. It was an odd sight for a city girl.

My feet grew with pregnancies. Then I got special arch supports to put in my shoes. My left ankle turns in. All the sudden I had to buy even bigger shoes. I went from a 7 1/2 to a 9!

    1. Gah, I'm a little on the tall side for a gal (almost 5' 9") so my feet are not dainty to begin with, I don't want them to get bigger! :)

  2. Yikes....

That snow is heading our way. We are getting somewhere between 1-10 inches LOL. They haven't been able to narrow it down in my area yet.

  11. Yikes on the windows. They are expensive indeed. Always something.

I too had to go a half size larger in shoes some years back. What's up with that?

    Have a fabulous weekend. ♥♥♥

  13. My car window went off track too, I had one fix costed $150, the other one I just close altogether- so it will never open again. It's an old truck, not worth it. So random are these events for sure. Have a great weekend.

    1. We did get an offer to just close it, but I like to go to the drive up at the bank, or the drive up pizza place when we're getting a pie to go. ;)

  15. Well, I guess we are not the only ones who have wild turkeys! That's too bad about your window. Guess they aren't the smartest of birds! lol We have a party coming up too and as far as shopping goes....I have one more day next week to head out to the mall and there's always Amazon.com with Prime if I really forget something....but time is ticking! :)

    1. I've never heard of a turkey hitting a car until now. Deer I see proof of all the time...it's amazing to me they run if they're in your yard and you move while IN the house, but they'll jump right in front of a moving car. :/

  16. I have 90% of my shopping done, 50% of the tree, 0% of the cleaning but I am so much further ahead than I was one week ago... We are getting a big storm tomorrow too...:(

    Enjoy the holiday parties :)

  17. A turkey hit your window? Did you have it for Thanksgiving. Poor turkey. Poor window.
I know the perils of the window dropping down . They have to remove the whole door panel. Been there, years ago.

The flood in my house put the kibosh on Christmas. A daughter in Minneapolis asked me if I had a tree. I told her I was lucky to have a house, at this point. Some of the presents got wet and everything is such a mess that I don't know if I'll even wrap anything and give presents. The big blowers are still all over the house, trying to dry it. . May sound like I'm complaining but just stating a fact. The upstairs is kind of added on to this funky old house and it didn't get wet..... so I do have a warm comfy place to sleep and hang out.
Have an exciting week with your family home.

  27. Oh poor turkey and how annoying over the windows. When I went up a shoe size I lamed the manufacturers changing things ;) how lovely tho have all the kids (assuming that means grand baby) home hope you had a great weekend :)

    1. It does mean the grandbaby!! WOOHOO! And of course it's the manufacturer's fault!! Why didn't I think of that earlier. :) Gracias!!

  28. Oh my to the turkey. 8 more days until Christmas and we have to shop for that. I should have taken a picture of our tree last Thursday before birthdays. The gifts were wrapped in Christmas paper. My mom and dad were here, she got her bday gift and I sent them home with their Christmas gifts. Now all the remains under there are teachers gifts and it's a reminder to we haven't done ANY shopping. I think I topped your oy! But poor Turkey!

  29. We are supposed to have 14 inches of snow by now, but we have only gotten 3 inches. I do not miss the snow, and it is looking like we are not having a white Christmas next week. Boy, I know what you mean about car windows. My car is old, and I can not roll the windows down ever! Thank God I have air conditioning or I would be in bad shape in the summer. I have almost all of my Christmas shopping done. I will be getting my dinner food on Friday! Merry Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I bet that would have been fun. Have you been before to the Breakfast with Santa?
They cancelled our Christmas parade. It wasn't even that cold or raining as yet. bah.

When I was younger and read about the Asian practice of some part of the culture to wrap their daughters feet, so it would remain small, so they could marry. I thought maybe I would do that so I wouldn't have big feet. Talk about self image even as a kid eh.

So hope it's not the Nikes and that you'll find a nice pair that makes you not even think about the size up :)

Glad your car is fixed. But the day you take it in and it's just that one thing, then santa is really real :)

Now that was an angry bird! Hahaha

Enjoy the parties. Did you already pick out what to wear?
You'll probably have to take your jacket off once inside right? :)

    Aloha.
