A Rockin' Holiday Celebration (literally and figuratively)

I've posted about the events our church puts on before. They always do such a great job, and this year's Christmas celebration was no exception.

They started the night off with a Nutcracker performance and Christmas music concert.
There were children playing in the background, how very cool!

They started the night off with a great live performance. It was standing room only. Every seat in the house was full, both upstairs and down, and people were standing in the aisles, in the corridors, and watching from the doors.

After the concert everyone spilled outside for some of the festivities. It was pretty cold so I felt bad for those who volunteered to do the live nativity scenes. ;)  They were laughing and happy, but I sure hope they didn't stay out there too long.

There were carolers outside, they did a few songs for everyone (again, I'm sure they were cold!). They sounded beautiful. Then we lit our candles, said a prayer, and everyone went inside the recreation building to warm up. There was hot chocolate and lots of treats, including my favorite chocolate tip dipped pretzels.

Little man got a reindeer painted on his face, and thought that was the cat's meow. ;)

There were a lot of things for the kids to do, and Santa and his Mrs. were there taking pictures with the kids.  I thought it was fun that they had Charlie Brown's Christmas movie playing on a big screen.

There were Christmas trees everywhere, and I had the kids stop to take a couple of pictures on the way out.

The night ended with carriage rides. The horses had to stop at the crossing to let other horses go by and the kids got a kick out of that.  It didn't even matter that it was cold outside, the horse-rides were just plain fun. I'm glad they put so much effort into making the events fun for everyone. It's really a nice treat to get out, celebrate the holidays with the community, and socialize a bit. :)

Family outings to community celebrations can be a treat for everyone and a wonderful way to chat with neighbors.
I suppose Little Man didn't want to wash his face for days. Haha

Agreed, I love the traditions. :)

Your avatar rocks, lol, and so does the Christmas card you wrote about today!

He did not want to wash his face, and the reindeer ended up on his pillow case. ;)

The musical performance was just incredible, I know you like Christmas music, so you'd have likely really enjoyed it!

It really is wonderful to celebrate with the community. I think that gives me more Christmas spirit than anything else. I couldn't imagine having to be in the nativity scene in your neck of the woods. Burrrrr!

Whew, I couldn't imagine having a live nativity scene in our neck of the woods either. ;) Those kids were braver than I, lemme tell you. :)

Hi Rosey, it looks like it was so much fun and it is so nice for the little kids! Our church used to have a Christmas Fair but doesn't do it anymore and I miss these fun kinds of things. We have my daughters Christmas show at her school coming up and I love those. Take care and enjoy the week. Julie

I'm glad the snow waited, we got buckets of it dropped on us overnight. Super close call. :)

Agreed! I was sold w/the Nutcracker. I've wanted to see it live forever (still do) and this was a nice fix until we finally get around to doing it. :)

Your church went all out! I can see why there was such a huge crowd. One of the churches here are doing a live nativity scene with camels and all, but it's a few towns over. I am hoping to get out there to check it out, but with our busy schedules the next few weeks, we may not. Looks like everyone had a great time at the event!

What a neat event for your church to do!! Very fun! Our church has a play that the adults put on...it's not really even meant for the kids to watch...at least not to enjoy...so it's neat to see other churches doing things that the whole family can do together. :-)
