Veteran's Day

I've posted this picture before. My son is front-right and is still active military.

When he left to join the military everyone was surprised. His college was paid for in full, and he had a real estate license in south Florida, when real estate was lucrative. He was doing fantastic. But he felt the need to do/be something else, and he chose instead to serve in the military.

My husband is a veteran who served a good deal of his time overseas.  Many members of our family, on both sides, are veterans as well.

In our house, we respect and appreciate those who are serving, and those who have served. God bless our troops.

  3. Is it Veterans Day when they've always sold the poppies. I used to have to sell both.... the regular one and the Buddy Poppy from the Veterans of Foreign Wars. My father was active in all Veteran organizations and enlisted everyone in the family to sell poppies.
We would always see who could sell the most.
    Thank your son for serving.

    All the best Hilary

  33. It is amazing that you son joined our troops with such a great life set for him. I applaud him on his bravery. I have had the pleasure of growing up in Manhattan, KS which is just a few minutes away from Ft. Riley and have known many soldiers, some even friends. It takes a strong person to give themselves. Thank you for sharing your son's photo today.

The local army base has wild Poppys growing outside it - it was makes me smile when I see them and think of all those who have and still do fight for our freedoms. x

  68. Hi Rosey,
I'm so glad that the first picture of your son in uniform that I saw was not this one, but the one of him and his daughter. This picture is quite the [sad] reality of what our service men and women and their families face in the name of serving and securing our country. Thank you to him and all of you. I come from a family of service members and can appreciate what they do. I was unable to serve due to a medical condition, but I respect and honor those that do serve.

    Sincerely,
    Karina
