Weekends are for Fun!

Over the weekend we went to the pumpkin patch. The family ended up hauling out two cart fulls of pumpkins, the biggest one on this cart belongs to my 6-yr. old (boy is he going to have fun helping clean out that baby!). All of the sudden I'm craving pumpkin seeds. ;)

Every year we call and ask grandma and grandpa, and a cousin close to my youngest son's age to come along. It's a fun day. This year we went to one that had a tractor pull that took you through quite a bit of property. Just so happens the property used to belong to the Indian tribe my father-in-law comes from, and he and the driver had been chatting earlier, so the driver had him stand up on that ride to get recognized. That was kind of cool for grandpa. :)  He deserves happy things, he's such a nice person, and all of the kids l.o.v.e. grandpa!!

I think that's supposed to be a scary face, but he doesn't look scary to me. :)

Then we went to feed the fish. For some reason the kiddos like that part, but the fish weren't very hungry. I guess we should have went earlier in the day when they hadn't already been fed by so many others.

The weekends also bring soccer, and after the game we went to the Halloween store to try and find a knightly sword to go with my son's costume. We did  not come across a sword we liked, but we did see what he would like like as King Tut. ;)

When we got home we made some donuts. The kids have that little doughnut maker and they wanted to make some Halloween treats.

Overall it was a productive, fun weekend.  Now it's a new week already and we're back to the grindstone. Wishing you all a productive, happy week. :)

What a great weekend!

The tiny one is mine because I have a feeling I'll be otherwise occupied helping someone else with his. ;)

We haven't even thought about pumpkins yet. I guess we should go get one to carve for our son since he is now old enough to have fun with it!

There are always so many fun things to do in the Fall. I think the pumpkin patch is my fave. :)

We went to a free pumpkin patch this year and it was every bit as fun as the one that charged for e.v.e.r.y.thing last year. :)

I love Grandpa's story! You know this already, but I can't get over your little guy. He is just so cute!

How fun. I of course like the king tut!

mail4rosey said...

He laughs when people pretend he's frightened them (that's not scary either).

I put disposable plastic table cloths under the pumpkins and clean up the pumpkin mess quick. :) Cleaning up the kiddo...not so simple. ;)

mail4rosey said...

'grats on finding the perfect pumpkins. :)

mail4rosey said...

Your pounds post made me laugh today, Carole!! Happy day to you too. :)

mail4rosey said...

I thought he'd make a lovely Tut too. Maybe next year. :)

Grandpa rocks, I wanted to hug that driver.

Thanks for the compliment, my little guy's a sweetheart. All of my kids are, I'm a lucky mom. :)

I liked that too, he was on a mission though...and it was to find a knight's sword (which we did not). We still have time though, and I told him he can't take a sword to school anyway, so he's not so excited as he was over it. ;)

mail4rosey said...

We'll go to another before the season is over too, to go through a corn maze. I love those things. :)

Looks like a wonderful weekend! Love the pics, Rosey.

Happy Tuesday!

Totally makes sense that fish are probably stuffed to the gills with food by noon if not much earlier. Love that you made donuts for Halloween treats. Yum!

That is always fun getting ready for Halloween. Visiting a pumpkin patch will put you in the mood, if you aren't already. I've always loved costumes. I have some I've never worn. We don't have any kids come by but I could dress up and go bar hopp'n. Most of the bars give prizes for costumes.
I'm kidding about that. LOL
Have fun carving those pumpkins.

Happy Tuesday to you too! :)

Donuts are a big hit in this house. I think the kids like making them more than eating them.

My grandma was a bartender, nicest person I've ever met, not even 5ft tall, and I've heard she handled the biggest of 'em if they got too rowdy. ;)

I remember talk of the NY's Eve parties but not Halloween (though I don't doubt they might have had them). ;) I also remember the jukebox guy would give her the old '45s and she'd give some to me. :)

Sounds like a lovely weekend. I haven't went to a pumpkin patch yet this year but I really want to go within the next two weeks :)

mail4rosey said...

I had one donut from each child, they're mini-sized, so it turned out okay. :)

Cheers to you too, Hilary!

mail4rosey said...

Thanks, Launna. We did have fun picking out our pumpkins. :)

I think you and your family make the most of everyday. I always enjoy hearing about all the fun things you do.

Have a fabulous week. :)

mail4rosey said...

We do our best to enjoy them. We know how fast they grow up. Two are already gone (insert big boo hoos here!!).

I'm headed over to your place, how fun that you were here at the same time. :)

It sounds like you all had a fun weekend. I love that King Tut hat. Did he like the that? That face isn't too revealing! :) Great big pumpkins. Yep a lot of carving lies ahead - Pumpkin seeds sound good...I like the sound of those donuts even better! Have a great week!

mail4rosey said...

He was on a mission and told me I was getting distracted with the costumes, so probably a no, hahahaha

Theresa said...

Well, you really did have a productive weekend! Completely opposite of mine. Allison spent the night at a friends house, so we took the time to just revel in the quiet. Who knew one little girl could cause so much noise in the house? lol

mail4rosey said...

I knew!! (Speaking from raising a girl in my house). ;)

Restful weekends are nice too. :)

It sounds like so much fun! Good luck with that whopper of a pumpkin haha!

LOL, he did select a doozie. I'm sure he'll be delighted when it's carved, but for now he just gets a kick out of looking at it. :)

Are you going to carve, or paint your pumpkins? I bought Toy Story, Woody pieces that poke into our pumpkins last year on clearance. I think we're doing that, then making things with them.

mail4rosey said...

Me too. :)

mail4rosey said...

I thought that was a cool hat. :)

mail4rosey said...

We always carve...though last year we carved, painted, and used those pokey things (Captain America). :)

My favorite weekend thing to do. :)

mail4rosey said...

It was a good weekend. It's raining this weekend, nice day for a movie, which we're about to go do. :) Thanks for the visit.

Masshole Mommy said...

He does make a wicked cute King Tut :)

mail4rosey said...

For him it was: No sword...no interest (at least for that outing). *sigh* ;)

Sylvia Phillips said...

Looks like you guys had plenty of fun last weekend! I have always hated cleaning our pumpkins. I can't stand that slimy feeling. Lucky for me my kids are all old enough to do that themselves now, all but Bethany. We usually have her paint hers. Thanks for sharing at FF!

mail4rosey said...

Thanks for the visit, Sylvia. :) We've got one to paint this year too. :)
