Random Babbling

I haven't done a random post for awhile, so that's what I'm doing today. Just taking a minute or two to jot down the first things that come to mind.

This morning, I'm thinking travel, as in Alaska. I have a friend taking her second trip to Alaska. I have another who's been. Everyone who goes LOVES it, but I don't have a desire to go (which is strange for me because I want to go everywhere, lol).  I would, however, like to go to Cambodia and visit Angkor Wat because the history is fascinating to me. None of my friends want to go there, but I think they'd end up loving the trip if they did...just like they think I'd end up liking Alaska. ;)

Another place I want to go is the Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando. But I only want to go if the older boys can go too (one of whom is married and in the military, so the instances of being able to get such a gathering together now are slim). I can totally see my older three running around sliming each other and loving it!!! The older two are going to outgrow that soon, I know, so it'd be fun to take them where they can still play and have a ball w/o anyone calling them *gasp* immature. ;)

And of course it's minutes from Disney too. :)

I'd like to visit The Holy Land if we were in the area. Not the Holy Land as in Israel (though that would be amazing!) but the Holy Land Experience in Orlando. Hubby doesn't think that would be fun, but my sister-in-law and one of my closest friends in the world lives in Florida, and she said she'd love to go! :)

Of course, we have no travel plans for Orlando in the works...I'm just thinking out loud. It doesn't take much to get me thinking of being on the go. :)

Today, however, I fully intend to enjoy my home. You can find me out doing the yard this morning and having a BBQ with the fam. this afternoon. We're breaking out the BolaBall, and that is serious stuff at our place. ;)  Happy weekend. :)

  2. Be fun to go there indeed, but pffffft to Alaska. They can keep that. I'd rather stay right here than go there any day.

  3. It's fun to go, but it's fun to be home with your family. Nothing beats your own bed and your own comfortable surroundings.

    Have a terrific weekend. :)

  4. Some people have to travel, the ones who have heavy Sagittarius in their astrological charts. Not me..... I've had to travel because my husband was a typical Sadge but now I can stay home and tend my garden.
I hope you get to the places you dream of.

    1. Gemini here. I crave it, always.
And as an aside, I was at the library the other day and the clerk was talking about the astrological signs all changing. She had a book she was reading it from. No idea if there's truth in it, but I don't want it to change, I like my birthstone. ;)

  7. I'm lame. I hardly think of traveling. I just think there's so much here to do. My husband loves to travel though.

My sisters keep trying to talk me into going to Disney. For awhile it's all I heard about. I like some of their movies, but man sometimes I think they just make them to rip the parents off. One of my favorite modern artists James Victore did this Mickey Mouse that was all dripping at the bottom and it said, "Go Home Disney". I'm not anti Disney. I just got rubbed the wrong way when they visited my college. One of my friends raised his hand and said, "Why do you make movies that you know you won't sell tickets to? Like Little Mermaid 2 and Beauty and the Beast - Christmas?" Anyhow the guy got stopped in his tracks. He couldn't answer. Then a few of my friends just lost their jobs because they own Star Wars now. They decided to stop making Star Wars Legos, games and Indiana Jones Legos and games. I just have so many mixed feelings about them. My friends did the cover illustrations for all that stuff. I don't know what to think of them.

    1. I didn't know about the Legos... but then again I didn't know they made them (eek, I feel soo outdated, lol).

Disney's big business. There's always mixed feelings that go along w/big business, I think. :)

  8. Nice post !

Angkor wat is a wonderful destination. If you go there try to enjoy the depiction of "churning the milk ocean", the fascinating story in the Indian epics. I have blogged about the sculpture with the same theme in Bangkok airport. Check my post in the blog http://www.magicalpresent.blogspot.com

Thanks for your comment on my blog. :)

  11. I enjoy traveling, but I enjoy being home, too. It sounds like if you are going to do those Orlando trips with your kids you better do it soon. If not, you will be waiting for the grandkids;)

    1. We're pretty lucky to been a bazillion times to Orlando (we lived in S. Florida for 18 years, so it was easy to drive up). BUT we haven't been to Nick or The Holy Land Experience, I didn't even know either one was there at the time. :)

You're right though, if we wait too long, it'll pass us by. :)

  17. I have never been to Disney land or world before! Hopefully, one day, I will be able to go. The Holy Land and Alaska both sound amazing! I have always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise and maybe spend a couple days in Seattle and Canada since I have never been there either!

  23. Myself, I'd love to go to Alaska. I didn't think it was a placed that I would like to visit, but I have an old friend who lives there, and he and his wife absolutely love it there. Now as far as living there...not a chance. Well...at least not yet. I've never been to Orlando. I would go in a heartbeat though. I love any place with fun kid friendly activities. :)

  25. It's funny how everyone has different ideas of what would make a great travel destination. My hubby and I often disagree on where to make our travel plans. One thing for sure, I MUST get to Hawaii and Ireland some day. Otherwise, I can compromise on everything else.
