The Balloons are Here!!

Free summer stuff, that's super cool too, I love it!!! This morning at 4:30 a.m, my 5-yr.old popped out of bed, wanting to go see the hot air balloons that come every year. I told him it was too early, go back to bed.  5 minutes later (if that) he was back in the kitchen asking if it was time to go, ha!  I went to his room with him to get him back to sleep.

The balloons were supposed to go up at 6 a.m., but despite the heat we're having that makes moving feel like you're stirring fudge, the launch had a warning sign (online) for windy conditions. I kept watching but it finally got listed as cancelled.  Hopefully they'll go up when they try again this afternoon.

The first thing my son said when he woke back up at a decent hour was, "Can we go see the balloons now?" LOL Gotta love young-child enthusiasm (and I do).  :)  What cool free fun stuff is going on in your area this summer?

    1. I don't think they'll run this afternoon either, it's still pretty windy out. It's so hot you wouldn't notice, but I guess in a balloon you def. would. ;)

  3. They must be grand to see, never saw one in real life at my sea.

  4. He's not going to be deterred from what he wants to see. I like that and so do you.

There are lots of wonderful things to do that are free. Right now I'm sitting on the back of our boat watching 8 ducks show us how pretty they are.

    Have a terrific day. :)

    1. He's pretty easy to enjoy. :) I think it's still too windy for them to go up. Hopefully tomorrow. We've had years where they haven't gone up at all, hope it's not like that this go around, but I totally understand safety first.

    1. I don't mind. I did usher him right back to bed though, he'd be a cranky mess if I'd have let him stay up. :)

  9. Yup this sounds about right with both my girls. Never fails that they will wake at an ungodly hour when they think they are missing out on something!!

  10. We saw the balloons once when we were on vacation right out of St. Louis, MO at Great America. We were at the hotel right across from there, and there was one taking off right on the lawn, and you could see one here and there coming from every which way. It was too cool! I can understand your little one's excitement. Have a great weekend.

  12. Aww this is so cute. I love it when they are so excited about things! PS - your description of the heat as "makes moving feel like you're stirring fudge" is the perfect way to describe it! I totally feel your pain.

  15. We don't have anything like that which I can see from home. But how wonderful that kids can get so excited and "latch" onto something. The best free thing that I am looking forward to here are the meteor showers that are supposed to take place on my birthday, August 12th!

  16. The balloons will be going up around here in September. It's always a site to see them float across the sky, isn't it? I totally get his excitement over watching them, because I feel the same way :)

  17. There is tons of free stuff in the area, but it's all highly advertised and the stuff is so crowded that you can't get near it. Sigh.

    1. They sure are pretty when they go up. We had a miss again today for flight. There's still two more chances to see them (tonight and tomorrow at sunrise). Crossing our fingers they take flight this year. :) Thanks for the visit!

  21. I really hope the hot air balloons get to go up in the near future Rosey! I have only seen them on television and I think they are so beautiful. No such excitement in my rural farming area of Jamaica!:) I wish you and your family a great weekend.
