Letter to the Weather

Dear Michigan Weather,

It was 56 degrees this morning, almost chilly. It was equally cool yesterday evening.  While we enjoy such temperatures in the Spring or Fall, please realize that we are supposed to be right in the middle of summer and we do not want cooler temperatures (especially if they are indicative of cold weather being right around the corner). Some of us (raising hand frantically here) actually like the weather warm.

Thank you,

Mail4Rosey

Anyone else getting this unusually cool weather in the morning and evening?  It's got me wondering a little bit if summer is going to be over way too soon. I sure hope it isn't... I missed it far too long for it to come and go so quickly.

  1. Oh it will be back in full heat wave mode soon I bet. Mother nature is a pest though. Cooler here and rainy.

  2. It's hotter than the dickens here. Near 100 degrees almost every day. I could use some cooler weather. Somewhere around 85 for the rest of the summer would be great.

    Have a terrific day. ☺

  3. Yes, we're getting cooler weather here in New York, too. I had to laugh when I read your letter. I'm from the Upper Peninsula, and I know exactly how you feel!

I hope the weather warms up for you. ☺

    1. I'm fairly new to the state (a lot to see and do here but not a lot of time in the warm weather to do it ;) ) and haven't made it to the UP yet. I hear it is STUNNING though and hope to make it for the turning of the leaves (eek, more cool weather talk, I must.stop.now). ;)

  4. It was 65 here in Massachusetts this morning and compared to the 100 degree weather that we had all last week - it was downright chilly.

  5. Yes. We just had a 7-8 day heat wave and this morning it was only in the 60ies. It was the first day in a while that I've felt like doing a bit of weeding. I like it, but we are going to Maine in Aug. so I, I'm with you, I want that warm summer weather to come back!

Living in the mountains, we always have very cool weather at night. In fact I often wear a down-filled jacket when I let Cody outside in the early morn. Then it always gets hot by around noon.... it's been in the 90's for wees. I like this change of temps as hardly anyone has need for AC.
Did you get an email from weather yet? haha

And no return correspondence, the weather never pays a bit of attention to me. ;)

  7. All the sudden we had rain 4 nights in a row. We're trying to paint our house. We have a deadline thanks to our home inspector. He came out when we switched from a fuse box to circuit breakers. We got a letter in the mail saying all the sudden we have to have our house painted within 30 days. We painted the front last year. The rest of the job was on our to do list anyhow. BUT we were finishing the kitchen floor when we got the letter. Then the rain happened. It's been a real pain in the butt! It's all scraped, cleaned and primed now. I hosed off the shutters to. In a way I'm happy for the deadline. It makes my husband move to get it done. I think it was a hazard in their minds because it's an old house with possible lead paint. I'm just annoyed that we didn't get the letter way earlier on. We switched to circuit breakers in like April.

    1. I feel your pain. We paid thousands to a painter two summers ago. By the end of that season it already started peeling (pretty positive they didn't use primer). It looks ridiculous. We'll probably redo it ourselves, but the house is so high on the back and sides it's going to prove very challenging.

We reported the painters to BBB after they refused to re-do it, and avoided us...but what do they care? Who even checks BBB for painters. *sigh*

Good luck meeting your deadline!! I hope you love the end result.

  8. I thought it was just us. It is 65 degrees, overcast and threatening to rain all day today. Meanwhile, last Thursday it was 100 degrees outside. Seriously, I probably sound crazy, but would rather the 100 degrees. This is downright chilly and so not happy now!!

  13. I live in the desert and it's been humid lately from a rainstorm we had on Monday (we had flash flood warnings). Several years ago we had a lot of rain in July which led to lots of flooding. It is cooler than usual (we normally get into triple digits) but sticky and our evaporative coolers don't work very well when it's humid.

  28. Hi Rosey,
Weather is such a freaky thing. We sometimes get told that we will have scattered showers. I was on the phone with a friend. In the time we were on the phone, the sky was cloudy, it rained for 60 seconds and then the sun came out. Huh??!!! I hope your warmer weather comes. I know the Michigan winter can be brutal.

    Sincerely,
    Karina

We also get the humidity with the heat and you can cut the air with a knife. My poor hubby almost died out there delivering the mail in such weather... I am no lover of heat. We did have some of your weather today..low's in the 50's..I had all the windows open!! And now it is a beautiful sunny and comfortable 75!! Love this weather. I'll switch you for the heat wave!! LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

  33. Dear Weather,

I'm trying to be nice here. Can those of us in the south share with both our mid-western brethren and northern brethren? To those in the north, especially Rosie in Michigan, can we send some of our upper 80's and 90's? Thank you.

And to those in the west who so desperately need rain, can you please turn off the faucet here in the south and send it out west.

We would all be much obliged.

    Most sincerely,

    Mary
