We went into the city yesterday to celebrate (they did it a day early this year, not sure why).
I had the bright idea to get some take-out from Olive Garden and eat in the park so we could get there early and get great parking. The second we got our food spread out and ready to eat on the picnic table, the clear sky turned gray and I knew what was going to happen. We made it to the car just in time, and instead had a car-picnic in the pouring down rain. Definitely not as nice as the table outside, but it was an adventure. ;)
When we were done eating, the rain stopped as well, so we went out to the park to play...

That's a pirate face, and in case you can't tell, he's on a pirate ship! |
In turn, she forgot my tendency to be terrified of them, and came towards me with an, "aww, look how cute" on her lips. My scream (an instant reaction) and immediate recoil reminded her, and the light in her eyes was priceless as she and her little brother (who just learned mom was scared of frogs) walked closer and closer, laughing and being general braaaaaaaaaaaaats. ;) Thankfully, she's really a kind soul (whew) and put the frog back by the water. I can't say the same for my little one who was all about the giggles and 'put it on mom' phrases. -_-
Besides that rare brush with fear, terror, and mom screaming, we had a great trip.
The rain left as fast as it came, and the rest of the night had perfect weather and some great fireworks too.
Today we're staying home and firing up the grill. I love when hubby does the cooking. :)
Happy 4th to you if you're celebrating, and happy Thursday if you're not. :)
This sounds like a fun trip! Baby frogs and all :). Happy 4th!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, even w/the frogs. ;)
DeleteCute pictures, I love to see parents take their children in the nature
ReplyDeleteI like to be outside too!
DeleteHappy 4th of July Rosey !!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my daughters would still pick up a frog lol ( Lindsay actually ) thank God there were none around on her wedding day LMHO

Happy Independance Day!
ReplyDeleteI hope your day was fun too!
DeleteLMAO well at least by screaming you proved there was no frog in your throat hahaha
ReplyDeleteI just found this comment in my spam, and you're right, there was no frog in my throat, but if they'd have kept coming near me, I'd have been croaking. :)
DeleteVery sweet. Enjoy your night off from cooking. Happy 4th.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy not cooking, I even used paper plates. ;)
DeleteGreat photos!
ReplyDeleteI love Olive Garden! Great idea for your picnic dinner, ( sorry to hear that it rained while you were eating! )
Have a great weekend!
I know, the rain messing w/my Olive Garden was just not nice. ;)
Deletehope yall have a great fourth :)
ReplyDeletewe are staying in.. it is just too nasty here to do much else...
We did have a great time. I'm sorry you've got yukky weather.
DeleteThey'll never forget THAT 4th of July! Great memories!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good day. :)
DeleteSuch wonderful memories you made! :) Happy 4th of July! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice. Glad you had a happy 4th, and hugs back. :)
DeleteSorry it rained on your "parade." I saw the same funny thing last time I took Cody to the park. As we drove in the park, it began to rain. Then I passed 2 people sitting at a picnic table with their food all spread out and eating quietly in the rain. I laughed and thought, "now there's determination. Gonna have that picnic, or else." Hahaha
ReplyDeleteGood photos (as always)
We weren't that determined. Soggy breadsticks do not a good dinner make. :)
Deletehahaha what fun...a little frog wont hurt you you know...smiles....fun...and good job not letting a little rain mess your picnic...glad it cleared off...we are making home made ice cream right now...woot.
ReplyDeleteI know, it's ridiculous to be scared of a 1" little critter, but no bones about it, I'm a big chicken.
DeleteHomemade ice cream sounds great!
We've been at our island for the last five nights and are now back in our slip at Willow Berm. Our dog cannot tolerate the fireworks that Hilton puts on at Mandiville Island so we always head back to the slip. Boats are still going out as I type. Our marina should be pretty quiet tonight. Here's a link: http://deltaboating.com/news3.htm
ReplyDeleteDinner? Baby back ribs here.
Have a fabulous 4th. :)
I looked at your link and that's a nice place to be!!! Sorry about your little one's ears. It's nice that you go back to the slip so the little doggie isn't miserable. We had a little one who didn't like loud noises when I was growing up too.
DeleteGlad you had a happy holiday!
You're having a busy day like me! Sounds like some good times. Happy Fourth!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alissa. Glad you and your family had a nice day too. :)
DeleteHappy July 4th to you. Glad she didn't go to close with the frog.
ReplyDeleteWhew, you and me both!! ;) Thanks for the well wishes. I loved your post today!
Deletehttp://www.myjourneywithcandida.com/2013/07/ipcam-central-monitors-our-elderly.html
Today was just a lazy day for the both of us. Thanks for stopping by I can always count on you to say hello! You're truly a bud!!! :) So I asked hubby to go fix the charcoal before it gets to late cuz this mama ain't doin it! Got a feeling I may be fryin' up dem burgers. hahahaha Talk at ya later my friend! Thanks for sharin' your memorable moments! Cute!
ReplyDeleteMy husband didn't fire up the grill until late either. I was almost resigned to do the cooking when he got up and went out to light the grill. I didn't cheer, but I wanted to. Cooking out makes a holiday more fun. :)
DeleteHappy Independence Day Rosey! I am glad you and your family were able to have good times despite some rain. Lovely pictures. By the way, I am also afraid of frogs!:) Have a great night.
ReplyDeleteSo glad I am in good company. I can't believe how many people are NOT afraid of them. :)
DeleteHappy 4th of July! Thank goodness the rain cleared up and you had a great time at the park :) Enjoy the weekend too!
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka

Fireworks and frogs sounds like a great Fourth of July!
ReplyDeleteThe fireworks were nice. ;)
DeleteHappy 4th my friend, stay safe and make happy memories! Thank you for sharing at the hop xo
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite hops. :) Thanks for always hosting.
DeleteHappy Fourth of July. I have a feeling you'll be hearing about the "frog incident" for many years to come. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I hope not, but I so suspect you're right. ;) Thanks for the visit. :)
DeleteEnjoyed the frog story...memories are always fun to reminiscence as we get older. Glad you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteI could live without frogs in my life, I really could. :)
DeleteHappy you stopped by, Laurie. :)
Happy 4th of July to you and your family. love all the pictures here and your picnic story.
ReplyDeleteGem :)
I hope you had a great holiday too!
DeleteI'm usually a girly girl, but I LOVE frog catching. I like the way the feel trying to jump out of your hands when they are trapped. Squishy lol!
ReplyDeleteHope your cook out was delicious! I'm sure it was if you got to sit back and not do any of the work ;) Around here, I do all the cooking, even the grilling, so I never get a break!
Happy 4th of July!
Oh Theresa, I cannot read anymore.. I just cannot. ;)
DeleteYour star shaped jollies were awesome, nice creativity!! :)
Happy Fourth to you too! Your day really sounded like an adventure. We lucked out here in Florida, we had a beautiful day (no rain) and had a great time watching the fireworks at the beach and then went home and watched the Macy's Fireworks on TV.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I watched the Macy's fireworks last night too. That was an AMAZING amount of fireworks they had going on there!!
DeleteHi Rosy .. sounds like a fun day out - and now you're in a for a few years of creepy crawlies coming too near! Happy days and have a fun weekend with the grill etc .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI do believe you are correct about the creepy crawlies, Hilary. Dang it!!
DeleteHappy weekend to you, happy you stopped in for a visit. :)
Cute pics! Your day sounds awesome! I love watching fireworks but I haven't been in years, I think the last skyshow I saw was at Disneyland three years ago!!
ReplyDeleteWe used to watch the ones at DisneyWorld, they were pretty awesome. :)
DeleteSounds like a great day
ReplyDeleteNothing-to-do-but-play days are my favorite kind of days. :)
DeleteA fun day, frogs and all
ReplyDeleteA fun day, minus the frogs. :) :) :)
DeleteBummer about the rain on your Olive Garden picnic, but I am so happy to hear that the rest of your day turned out good and that you had some nice weather for the fireworks.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the weather cleared up too, Robin!! :)
DeleteGlad you had a good 4th of July! We are celebrating this weekend with fireworks and cookouts.
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me! :) I saw your post about spending time w/your teen today and could totally relate. I love those days. :)
DeleteThanks for saying my star studs were cute. I haven't worn those in years. I think I bought those back around 2002, wow.
ReplyDeleteThey were cute. :)
DeleteI love the pic of big sister walking with little bro! Priceless, I haven't been able to get one like that with my boys and frankly I don't think it will ever happen so I will enjoy yours (my kids are like cold water and hot oil, lol) I was taught that if I touch a frog I will get warts..LOL..I know total nonsense..but it was my grandma's way of keeping me away from grabbing them and bringing them home, it worked and now I can't touch one at all..so I share your feeling hun! I hope you finally got to eat something on the 4th! Big Hug, Lizy
ReplyDeleteI should have taught my kids that. :)
DeleteYour kids are so cute! I love how your girl likes to do "boy things" since she grew up around boys. I was kind of a girly girl (grew up around girls) but I'm getting more into the tomboy stuff now. I actually held a toad this spring! :)
ReplyDeleteI saw a big beautiful toad on your blog, but if I'd have been there in person I wouldn't have gotten closer than 50 ft. away from it... at least. ;)
Deletehope youand your family had a great relaxing day!
ReplyDeleteWe did, thank you Courtney!
DeleteSometimes I keep track. I haven't in years until yesterday when the flight attendant announced it was America's 237th BD. Wow, it really hasn't been that long so we should really appreciate our independence.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a short amount of time, isn't it? It's amazing, actually how much we've grown since 1776.
DeleteSo good to see you had such a nice time celebrating the 4th of July! I'm sorry you had to change plans a bit due to rain...somehow we managed to avoid it here.
ReplyDeleteI hope the rest of your weekend is a great one! :-)
We're in the same state, yes? If so you were luckier than we were, but it turned out okay. :)
DeleteLooks like you had a good 4th. We saw some fireworks and had a blast
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a good time too. :)
Deleteso glad you had a wonderful fourth with your family, rosey! i love that you made the best of a rainy day (and little frogs being placed in your face) ;)
ReplyDeletei love that you had a car picnic too! olive garden is so good! my friends and i love their "soup, salad, breadsticks" lunch!
i hope you and your family are enjoying the weekend. lots of love to you xoxox
maria
I don't usually eat salad dressing at all, but I LOVE their dressing.
DeleteAww, I bet Piper had a cute little outfit for the 4th. They're so cute to dress up when they're so little!! Hope you had a great 4th too!
Sounds like you had a great time. We went to see fireworks on the 4th and we ate in our car because if was way too hot to eat outside. Yes, we ran the car so we could have some air conditioning for a little bit.
ReplyDeleteThe rain cooled things off here so that it was nice. Glad you got out and about for holiday fun too. :)
DeleteWe had rain as well, but that didn't stop us from the parade and fun festivities. Sounds like you had a wonderful 4th even with a quick terror of froggies.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Sorry about the frog terror and the rain, but otherwise, the 4th sounded pretty fun! Hope you had a great time!
