Betty Crocker Summer Cakes (with Infographic)

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post but all opinions stated are sincere and my own.

I've often talked talked about my grandmother and how she home cooked everything, and was always glad to let me help. Though I'm sure my 'help' was not really so helpful, she never let on and I never realized it until I was grown. Furthermore, it did just what I suspect she wanted it to do, and that was make me feel special, helpful and loved. We made some great memories in her kitchen, and now it's my turn to pass that sort of kindness on to my own children.

Betty Crocker realizes how special cooking with kids can be, and just in time for summer they've compiled a list of Summer Birthday Cakes that can easily (and fairly quickly) be made in the kitchen with the kiddos.  Check out some of these great recipes found here.

My favorite is the watermelon cake:

My daughter is fond of rainbows and butterflies, making this the perfectly predictable (& scrumptious looking!) choice for her:

And my little one 'ohh ohh oooohed' at the ice cream cone cakes below.

There are many other great summer cake ideas too, many of which would work well to foster the bond between you and your precious littles (or not-so-littles) in the kitchen this summer.

Children do remember the fun things they consistently do with their parent(s). Why not make one of those memories this summer, be filled with the goodness of cake?

I think those are cute too. I've never tried them, but I saw where Brandy (from Happily Blended) did them with her daughter not too awful long ago.

I made them for Kyle's co-workers a while ago and they were a huge hit. :)

Love these Rosey! You are so right about sharing some kitchen fun and memories with the kids. Just yesterday at my hairdresser, my little one sits right next to her on the waiting room while I was taking care of the bill and I overheard him tell her..:Do you want to know a secret? she says, sure what?.."My mom puts vanilla on her potato salad, that is her secret ingredient"...I just laughed! The kid has been in the kitchen with me for 4 years now...he knows to much or so he thinks...PS...no the secret ingredient is not vanilla, but don't tell him that!!! Love my friend, have a good one! My mom and grandmother both always had the big Betty Crocker cookbooks that came out. I still remember the covers they were used so often.

mail4rosey said...

LOL! He's spilling secrets from the kitchen! Good thing they're the wrong ones. hehe

I hope the hairdresser doesn't attempt to put vanilla in her potato salad. ;)

My mother-in-law would enjoy EATING them w/the grandkids, haha. Cake is one of her absolute faves!

That watermelon cake is so cool!! I used to make the cake in an icecream cup. They are cute too.

That's the one my daughter will make, I'm sure, at some point before summer is over. She's better at decorating than I am too, so I bet she nails it. :)

I remember my daughter, long ago, made for her grandmother's birthday, a cheeseburger cake with chocolate cake and peanut butter frosting. It turned out perfectly.

I think my favorite of your shares is the watermelon cake!

mail4rosey said...

I'm quite certain the kids and their friends would love that one. Thanks for the visit. :)

I've seen the cheeseburger cakes and they are adorable!

Never too old for cake. :)

Don't eat any of that at my mat, and cooking hahaha the cats would do a better job.

mail4rosey said...

You could make tuna cakes for the cats. :)

Oh man, that watermelon cake looks AWESOME. I would pay good money for that because lord knows I would never actually bake anything like that myself LOL.

mail4rosey said...

My decorative flair is lacking too, but it'd still be fun to try (and taste) one of those. :)

These are amazing. I never was one of those special moms that made cool stuff like this, but maybe one day I can become a grandmother like yours.

Those cakes are too cute! My nieces made those cupcake cakes and said they were the best cakes they ever had. I guess baking them in the cones gives them some kind of extra flavor?

mail4rosey said...

I dunno, but it looks fun to me. Extra flavor is a good bonus. :)
