Am I Only Dreaming??

This morning I woke up from a bad dream. One of those dreams that infuses reality to you in an ugly way, regarding something you'd just rather not think about from the get-go.

I got out of bed, and ran on the treadmill. I was still unsettled, and grumpy. Usually a workout makes me happy. I took a shower, still grumpy. Not grumpy, something though, I don't know what it was, but I'm not usually grumpy (or whatever it was).

The kitchen was my next stop, and how I ran out of my Nantucket K-cups w/o noticing is beyond me, but my fave coffee wouldn't be joining me this morning, hmpf.

I made the Butter Toffee Coffee, which I like. A lot. But I wanted Nantucket, lol.

Still reeling from my dream but getting a little better, I started to read our WSJ. Nothing but rotten and ugly news on the front, so I put it down.

I went over to the computer and stared perusing the headlines there, as if they'd be any better.
-Mom forces daughter to get pregnant.
-Baby found abandoned on a beach in Hawaii.
-Teen boys on trial for shooting baby in the face (and killing him, because the mom...a stranger to them, wouldn't give them money).

Just awful, ugly, headlines of people doing unthinkable, stupid things. And the ugly mood continued.

Then I started to visit some of the blogs I like to read (sorry I didn't get to hardly anyone at all yesterday, we've got three days of super busy here this week). Chuck at Secondary Rds. had a Pay It Forward post (something someone did nice for he and his wife) that made me smile. Yep, a real smile. Then I got to Alissa's blog at Planet of the Apels and she had up a post with a picture of her as a little girl, and it looked so much like her sons look now that I couldn't help but smile bigger. I kept reading and it was an Old School blog post from the series going around and she did a really good one. The picture of her and her husband was really nice and then she had the fun photos at the end of her little ones. And my dark cloud was gone.

Of course then my husband's alarm clock started to go off, meaning I had to get up and start getting some food ready, but by then I was back to normal and feeling pretty happy about it.  Now I can proceed about my normal daily activities. :)

Don't you just hate when a dream seems so stinking real, and then it disturbs you enough to wake you up. Even worse when it lingers after you're up, or the residuals from it do anyway.  Thank goodness those don't happen often.

And hurrah for happy blog posts today. Thank you Chuck & Alissa. :)

  1. I dream a lot & almost always remember them, but rarely have nightmares like that (thankfully). I Have had that happen and even though it's a bummer, it usually sets the tone for my day. Glad you were able to snap out of it :)

  6. I rarely remember my dreams and I'm happy about that. When I do remember them they are always dark and I hate those kind of dreams.

Yes, the news always seems so horrible anymore. Gloom and doom surrounds us. You did the right thing and visited places that made you smile. Good for you.

    Have a terrific day. ☺

  10. I hate those dreams. When I was younger, I had this recurring dream that I lost my sister at the mall (she's 11 years younger than me) and it took years for that to go away. I still occasionally have dreams of my husband leaving me for someone else and refusing to talk to me about it. Ugh. But reading good blogs does help a lot! :)

    1. I had a recurring dream for years about walking through a house. Hubby's had one too, regarding flying. I haven't had one for years though (it was not a bad dream). And aww on your two recurring dreams. I'm glad you haven't had the one for a long time, and crossing fingers and toes the last one goes away too (and stays gone).

      Thanks for the visit. :)

  12. Sorry to hear about your dream. I don't often have bad ones. I just remember the good ones fortunately.

If I may be so bold, I have a post of my awkward prom photo circ. 1985 coming up for WW. This should bring either a smile or a good laugh. lol

  17. It has happened a time or two for me! I remembered one time dreaming that my husband did something and I was so angry. I woke up angry and he's like what? Lol. It's pretty hard to explain that you want to punch him because he did something in your dreams.

Hope you have a better day! :D

  18. I've had dreams where I've been upset with my husband or someone and then can't let it go when I'm awake. Nothing to be upset about since it wasn't real, but it is so hard to shake those feelings. Now, thanks to you, I know that I can turn to my favorite bloggers to bring me out of that spell. Thanks fo sharing with us.

Those dreams really do stink. Thank goodness for happy blog posts. I never understand why news always consists of something bad, like the feel-good stories are supposed to be a treat for viewers. Glad your day got better.

  28. I swear, the only dreams I remember are the bad ones. And they ALWAYS seem so real! I've woken up mad at my husband, thinking whatever I dreamed about him was real. I woke up distraught thinking I was pregnant (I was 12 weeks along in my dream and my baby was only 14 weeks old in real life. that one caused me major stress for hours after I was awake, ha ha) and I couldn't shake that one for a long time! It's crazy how dreams can seem SO real!
