Pizza Hut?

Last night my husband decided on a whim that he wanted to go to Pizza Hut for dinner instead of eating in.  But I planned a meal.  Wait...no cooking? No dishes? Okay, count me in.

The walls at our Pizza Hut were covered with festive sports memorabilia like signed jerseys, photos, and FatHead stickers like the one above (Go Tigers!).

The pizzas came. Dad selected the Meat Lovers.

Mom and kiddos opting for the new Crazy Cheesy Crust Pizza.  We were split down the middle with 'like it' and 'eh.' My main concern was that the bunch of cheese in the crust would have pools of grease. That was not the case.

The TVs running in the corners were covering the news in Boston.  Why are such things becoming so much the norm? Why do we have to, if not worry about it, at least think about it (our safety) every time we are in, or witnessing something that is in a big group?  It's so sad what people do to one another, and something I, and the majority of people, I'm sure, will never understand.

The storm clouds were really rolling in when we left, but the rain didn't start until just after we got in the front door.

When we got home, there was just enough time to play 'library,' my youngest child's latest fave, read a couple of stories, and get ready for bed.

I like impromptu decisions to eat out, even if it's just for pizza. I always think going out will save me time somehow though, and it never really does. :)

Wishing you all a happy Tuesday.

I was wondering about that crazy pizza. I just saw it on tv and thought they should just leave pizza as pizza, but heck, I'd still try it!

I have to say I love old fashioned pizza - from an actual pizzeria - not a fan of pizza hut or dominoes :(
But I AM a fan of not having to cook lol

That cheesy crust pizza looks really good, but then again I have a serious weakness for cheese, haha.
As far as the news...ya know, since when did it become normal to have TVs blaring all around us all the time. The noise alone makes me twitch slightly.
I will not understand, either, the capacity of one person to cause harm to another. But in the light of such tragedy I always have to remember that there are billions of people out there who still love each other and treat each other with dignity and grace. :)

I've seen the commercials for the pizza but haven't tried it. The news is sad. Our world is crazy and it makes me so sad:(

mail4rosey said...

Agreed on the second part.

Flabbergasted on the first part. ;)

mail4rosey said...

My husband remembers his grandparents taking him to Burger King whenever he visited. He said they thought that was the treat of all treats. ;)

mail4rosey said...

I think you can only get the one size. We have a ton in the fridge, but I live too far away to share. :)

mail4rosey said...

It's just pizza interfering w/the crust a little more than usual, methinks. :)

mail4rosey said...

We have one pizza place around here that is REALLY good and the rest are all chain restaurants. Shopping conditions are even worse. Phft. I do miss the big city SOMETIMES. :)

mail4rosey said...

That's the best thing about going out, I think, is that you spend that quality time face-to-face without distractions.

mail4rosey said...

I agree with every single thing you said, from the cheese to the much more serious notes.

And the TVs everywhere has crossed my mind too. Remember when it used to be taboo to watch TV at dinner? Now they're in restaurants everywhere you go...sometimes even on the wall in your booth.

mail4rosey said...

There's still a lot of lot of lot of good in the world, Nichol, but you're right, the news is very sad.

Hubby liked his so much he called to say he's having leftovers for dinner. That'll psyche the youngsters because they'll get to have a kid-friendly meal they don't usually get when dad's at the table.

Dad'll hole up w/his pizza and his finals (the worst week of the school year for him ;) ).

Love pizza so much.

It's a sad world we live in that people feel the need to cause such harm :(

mail4rosey said...

Runners in a marathon, at that... it's beyond comprehension, and deserved more than a small say in a pizza post, but I know it's on a lot of our minds today, and most certainly the people affected are in our thoughts and our prayers. :(

How fun to go out for pizza!! We did that a few times last year when my daughter's teacher did the Book It program through Pizza Hut, but the kids' teachers aren't doing it this year :-(

Are you a fellow Michigander? Noticed the Tigers pic and comment ;-)

Sandee said...

We don't go out very often when we're home, so it's always a treat. Pizza is always good and I would have opted for the one you had. Looks yummy.

We are now like many other parts of the world where bombings are the norm. The hated that's being shown is frightening. School shootings, bombings, and other awful things humans do to other humans is appalling.

Have a terrific and safe day. ☺

Hi Rosey,
The Pizza Hut made me laugh because I began reading this as I was shlepping a slice of pizza into my mouth. Priceless. In my defense, I also have a plate full of broccoli that I am also shlepping. Your pizzas look so delicious, though.

As for the Boston Marathon tragedy: It is so sad that these things happen. The thing is that people with good hearts and good intentions will never understand the thought process that goes into doing something like this. We are just not built that way. Honestly, if it weren't for the Alexa toolbar that I have installed, I would hardly ever know what's going on in the world because I just don't like watching the news. It always starts off with something bad and goes downhill from there. Who wants to watch that day after day? PBS cartoons look better and better everyday.
Ending on a happy note: Some of our best friends are from Michigan. Salt of the earth people. Now I know why I like your blog so much - same mentality.

Sincerely,
Karina

Sincerely,
Karina

We had one close by us too, and then this new one opened some time later. It's inexpensive and a nice treat once in awhile. :)

mail4rosey said...

My husband is a huge Pizza Hut fan, Brandy. Huge. I think it's the 2-for-$20 thing that sold him. ;)

mail4rosey said...

No dishes or clean up is always a good thing. :)

mail4rosey said...

LOL at the pizza, and broccoli makes everything okay. :)

I agree on the tragedy. :( :( :(

And thank you for ending with such a nice comment, Karina!!

I know what you mean...we love Pizza Hut but sometimes having to get dressed for public (I get into pjs when I'm home!), drive, eat there, drive back seems like more work than just cooking something! HAHA~ Plus, our closest Pizza Hut went out of business so it's a longer drive to any major chain pizza place and no smaller pizza places around us that we trust. Your photos look delicious! Thx for visiting my blog today :)

I love their bread sticks! I always think that eating out will save time too, but it never does. The travel cancels that out, but at least I don't have to worry about the clean up!

mail4rosey said...

We live just outside of the city so it's a little trek for us too, but it's worth it to not have dishes once in awhile (woot for no dishes, lol!). Thanks for your visit back. Your post today was nice, I love those purple flowers!!

I love Pizza Hut lunch buffets. I can't get enough. This Boston thing is KILLING me. Just a day after my birthday, yet another thing for me to mark my calendar with. I usually say, "April 14th, when Lincoln was shot" but now I have to tack this horrifying event into my life.

mail4rosey said...

Hubby had a pizza craving, and I was mildly curious about the new pizza anyway, so it was win-win. And like you said, no clean up rocks. :)

mail4rosey said...

You had such a happy birthday, yes? I hope you don't associate the two events long-term. It is a very awful thing and you deserve better than to associate it w/something great like your birthday.

Rosey, I may be on the other side of the world but we are all affected by the events at the Boston Marathon - so random, so horrible. Thinking of all my friends in the US today.

mail4rosey said...

And I bet Broxton thought that was an A+ choice. :) We always get a 'yeah,' from the kids when we want to go there, even the big ones. ;)

mail4rosey said...

Thank you, Carole. It's one of those things where if you think about it too hard, or watch it too long on the news, you find yourself gasping for breath and trying not to cry.

I appreciate your really thoughtful comment, and I bet everyone else who reads it will too.

My husband never chooses pizza, but he will go along with it if Elliott and I both say we want it, or I cook it at home. :) Last night we ate at Olive Garden. I had a followup appointment with my surgeon yesterday at 345 (we had to pick Elliott up from school early so he could go with us, since my sister was working), so eating in Minot was nearly a requirement since it was a school night. :) Elliott and Carl argued over whether it was going to be Ruby Tuesday or McDonald's, but somehow Olive Garden ended up being the compromise? lol

I've tried to avoid the Boston news as much as possible, because it's just too sad.

Since we live in the country now, we can't go out to eat on a whim. We are 35 miles from the nearest town with a Pizza Hut! I do like to cook my own meals, but every once in a while I think how nice it would be to go out to eat or order in. Oh well, the benefits of living in the country outweigh the negatives :)

Pride In Photos said...

Well happy to meet another Pizza Hut lover. My husband doesn't like their pizza, so I don't get the chance to have it as much as I would like☺ Yes, it is terrible to always worry about our safety. Heck, I can't even go to Walt Disney World, without something bad happening♥

Kristi Maloney said...

I'm a sucker for pizza, and that looks sinfully good! Yeah, the bombings in Boston is just more proof of the type of world we live in these days. Grant ran Boston four times and I am happy to report did not run this year. I was heartbroken when I heard about that 8 year old boy that was killed. It could have been my 8 year old waiting for his Dad at the finish line. So tragic.

The pizza looks great. We actually did the same thing. I started blogging about their TVs and news coverage, but didn't finish the post. It's saved. I'll finish it on Thursday. We asked them to change the station. They were so nice and did so.

Ours is a hike too, but the benefits do outweigh the negatives. You're right though, home delivery once in awhile would be sweet! :)

mail4rosey said...

I know, I hated reading that someone stole your wallet at Disney. That is NOT a fun way to end a trip. :(

mail4rosey said...

OH my gosh, Kristi. I'm glad Grant wasn't running too. :( And you're right, it is tragic.

mail4rosey said...

lol. You're allowed, pizza is a good thing. ;)

mail4rosey said...

I guess it runs about the same time-wise, doesn't it...we just don't have to do those dishes, which is a nice change once in awhile. :)

I like the impromptu too. I should have taken my hubs up on the idea yesterday, but I was in a rather surly mood and blocked with anger.

Oh well.

It is true we will not understand evil. I wish that the media wouldn't play to the death and show the carnage, but be more inspiring.

And I love when the rain begins, just as I close the door :)
Glad you had a good family time out.

mail4rosey said...

I can't watch the carnage, when it starts getting gruesome I have to turn away.

I love the rain too, if I'm able to walk inside if I wanna. :)
