Marriage and Babies
Lanaya at Raising Reagan [if you haven't seen her blog or her toy store (the link to her store is on my side bar), I encourage you to take a look, I think you'll love them both!] tagged me with her old school blogging post. 'Tag, you're it.' That's what she told me, so here we go. :)
She gave me six questions, and my answers are below.
1. How did your husband pop the big question?
We were outside watching the New Year's Eve fireworks and he got down on one knee with the ring. It was very romantic. We were married in the court house, with no fan fair, and we still happily wear the three-ring wedding set that cost just a few hundred dollars.
2. What are the (3) most surprising things about married life?
a). The level of trust you place in one another. No matter how upset we might get about something regarding the other, that other person is still someone we ultimately trust with our heart, with our marriage, and with our family.
b). The boat rockers. When something comes up that you don't both agree on...no, that you both VEHEMENTLY disagree on, it catches you by surprise. You work it out even if neither of you compromises how you feel, but it still surprises you that the boat isn't always anchored on calm waters.
c). Growing up. Somewhere along the way you grow up together and become the true adults and unit rock of the family. That's an amazing thing we're experiencing right now, and something I will always appreciate and not take for granted.
Whether younger and just visiting Michigan...
Or old and living in it, we''re a pretty good fit together. :)
3. How did you find out you were pregnant for the first time?
The stick on the third box of sticks I purchased (yeah, I was too anxious to wait the full time to test) had a plus sign. ;)
1988, days before the appearance of my first child. He's got one of his own on the way now, and I'll be a grandmama in May, woot!
4. How did you choose your baby's first name?
He was named after a family member.
5. Describe where you see yourself 10 yrs. from now.
Career-wise: A lot of you know I have my Ph.D. classes done and am working on my dissertation. In ten years I see myself utilizing that degree to its fullest. Something that takes so long to get had better be put to good use, yes? ;)
Familiy-wise: In ten years I will have children aged 35, 30, 24, and 15. I hope the first three are happy with all areas of their lives, and I hope the youngest will be happy and excelling in school. I enjoy watching the steps they take in life now, and am supposing that will be exactly the same, though circumstances will be different, ten years from now. I took time off to have have the last baby, so I won't be planning retirement then (I have catching up to do!) but I bet dad will be. ;)
6. Describe how you find bliss either with words or images.
The 4 kiddos, and my lovely daughter-in-law on the left.
Hubby and me on the right.
It seems so cliché I know, but to me, my family being happy, healthy, and secure in who they are and what path they're walking in life is what gives me my bliss.
So, that's it for my (6) questions. Now I get to pick others to play along too, but in taking a great cue from Jen at The Adventures of Our Army Life, who also did this challenge, I'll let you grab it and run. If you'd like to blog about these six answers as they relate to you, please do and leave me a link. I'd love to come and read about it.
Thanks, Lanaya, for the tag. :) Lanaya's story can be found here, and Jen's here.
