Are You a Snoozer?

I've read the reports about snoozing being bad for you, and it's okay, I'm all good. ;)  I get up long before any alarm goes off, ever, and I have for years.  But my husband is a snoozer. He has an intense love/hate relationship with our alarm clock.  I'm sitting here laughing because he's just hit the snooze button on our alarm for the third time.  He does it every single work day without fail.

He's a napper too.  He likes to take naps any chance he gets.  Hmm... I wonder if there's a direct correlation.  Not worth the money it would take to conduct the research, eh? But it's a thought. :)

How about you, are you a snoozer?

  2. I'm a 50/50 - I either wake up way before the alarm, or the alarm wakes me up and I snooze it for about 4 times :oD

  3. It's a rare day that I ever hear my alarm. I am almost ALWAYS awake before it ever goes off. I am an early riser and a total morning person, so I like to get up and get at it nice and early.

  4. If snoozing is bad for you then I am doomed!! LOL. I usually hit snooze 4-5 times :)

  5. Nope, usually up before it goes off with ease. I may nap for a little bit some days though.

  6. Lately I've been getting up before the alarm, but sometimes I'll hit the snooze.

My husband is a napper too! Seems like it's every chance he gets ;-)

  7. I get up most of the time. I don't think I ever get a really good sleep though.

  8. I HAVE to snooze 2-3 times. I just have to or I wont get up right away. So, I always set my alarm 15 minutes earlier than the time I actually need be up by, to allow myself to snooze a little longer. :)

  10. My brain is automatic. I can't sleep in and snoozing is just not in the cards {especially with a toddler!} Napping, on occasion. If Rey is down for her nap and if by some miracle I am all caught up ~ I'll take a nap!!

  12. I am a snoozer, and I remember reading a post of yours, in which you were talking about how early you get up. I am in awe of early risers! I completely wish I needed less sleep than I do! But, if you ask my husband, he will tell you how much I need my sleep!

  13. It drives me crazy that my husband sets the alarm for one hour before he knows that he'll get up and then sleeps through it. I on the otherhand am wide awake.

Ahhhhh!!! It's a bit of a bone of contention around here ;)

  14. I hit the snooze button, but I don't go back to sleep. It gives me a few minutes to wake up on my own, before I get Elliott up. But I'm afraid that if I don't hit the snooze, I'll get distracted and lose track of time and end up waking him too late.

My husband can hit the snooze button for an hour if I let him. When he was deployed one of his roommates told me I deserved a medal for putting up with him and his snoozing and bad moods in the morning.

  15. I'm not a snoozer. I get up, and that's it. I do like to get about 8 hours though, but I never take naps.

  16. I used to be... but I can't really do it now...
Hubby on the other hand? Yep... he's a snoozer!

  17. I hate mornings. I mean, really hate them! So yes, I am a total snoozer!

  18. Yes, but I just wake up too early (w/o alarm) and then fall back asleep. Grant is a big napper. I will occasionally on the weekends try, but usually fail to get to sleep.

  19. I am not a snoozer, but for some reason, I slept in this morning. I never do that.

  20. It seems to depend on my children, if they sleep well at night. I am up without a snooze or a worry. We will just say the bad nights make my alarm my mortal enemy. :)love your blog!

  21. I am a strange sort of person i guess....IF i stay up really late..I can wake up as soon as the alarm goes off...even if I only got a few hours of sleep. If I go to bed on time...I kick the alarm and go back to bed...then wake up with a headache! I think my body likes punishment!

  22. I love naps. I love long sleep. I wake up slowly most mornings without an alarm, I just wake up. My HM is such a funny napper. He will zonk, be snoring and then boom he is up and awake the next second. So odd to me, cuz I hate alarms and I hate to wake up. hahahahaha. But when I am awake I am very useful. I just need a ton of sleep...always.

You can have the pink and the yellow sandals. I grant them to you via your FAIRY GOD MOTHER! See. :D

  23. I am not a snoozer as I wake up before the alarm or easily once the alarm goes off. Have a great weekend Rosey!

  24. I wake up before the alarm and pretend the time before the alarm goes off is extra time before I have to get up.

  25. I can sleep anytime day or night. But then, I am anemic so maybe that is why. My husband, is more like you.

  26. I am a big snoozer! I set my alarms early just so that I can snooze. I set the alarm clock and also an alarm on my phone. It's bad! Haha.

  27. I hate the snooze! Even when I'm dying for few more minutes of sleep, I jump right out the bed just because I'm terrified by the annoying snooze.
My husband is the same as yours, sometimes I think he doesn't even hear the alarm, like at all!

  28. Haha. Yes I am. After I have kids.
I've never been before and used to wake up very early say 5am without an alarm!
Even while working in my 20s!

Now I rely on alarm to get me up on time. But napping is a no. I have too much to do and just have to grab all my time! :)

  30. Why is snoozing bad for you? Yes, I'm a snoozer with a love-hate relationship with the alarm clock.

    1. Supposedly it interrupts the body's natural process of preparing to wake up, messing up the Cortisol that is gradually released; transitioning you from a deep sleep to an awake state instead of allowing for a natural progression; and sleep deprivation (your body should wake you up when it's had enough sleep). I heard it on talk radio, and saw it in the paper... maybe it's trendy to study it right now.

  31. I'm was never a snoozer until the alarm clock moved to my husband's side of the bed. One snooze is enough for me though - I hate when he hits it 5 times, especially when I don't have to get up!

  32. I've read several articles in the last 12 months about naps and their benefit. Naps increase alertness and reduce mistakes on the job. One study also asserted that napping has emotional benefits. A nap can be a treat or a reward for a hard day’s work. I am not a snoozer, particularly, but I like to rise slowy- in other words, I like to have a few minutes to 'wake up', do some stretches, think about the day ahead, all while not talking or rushing. lol

  33. I am not a snoozer, but my daughter is.

  34. Totally for about 10 mins daily except weekends when I have a late sleep-in. I am soooo not a morning person!

  35. I never owned an alarm clock until I got married. I just wake up at 7 am every day. Hubby snoozes.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I can't snooze... I don't even understand the concept of a nana nap, you either sleep for 8 hours or don't bother! I have never managed an alarm clock, I am always up hours before the alarm so I can get started.

    ReplyDelete
  37. My husband is the same way. He has three alarms on his phone so he can keep hitting the snooze for five more minutes of sleep. To me it seems a little ridiculous :)

  38. Guilty as charged. Yes, I am a snoozer. Most times after the alarm goes off I find myself longing for just a few more winks or maybe trying to seek the ending to a dream that was interrupted by the donk, donk, donk sound of the alarm. I'd say I snooze about 10 - 15 min. past the alarm. Then I roll out of bed.

  39. I used to be a huge snoozer. Lol, my friends would always want to kick my butt when we had sleepovers bc I would set my alarm for at least an hour before I even wanted to get up. I would never hear it and they would have to keep getting up to shut it off. :)
    Have a wonderful weekend! Xoxox

  40. Hi Rosey,
I am a snoozer, but am trying to get out of the habit because I notice that when I snooze I wake up more tired than when I just get up after the alarm goes off or before the alarm. My husband is a complete snoozer.
It is said that if you get enough sleep and go to bed and wake at the same time each day, that you shouldn't need an alarm. For those who commented on getting up before the alarm, they are doing something right. Hope I just added to your impromptu study.

    Sincerely,
    Karina

  41. I am such a snoozer. There hasn't been a day my alarm has gone off this year that I haven't hit the snooze button.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm not a snoozer or a napper. Usually by this time of the year though the alarm does have to wake me up. Something about that springing forward. But my alarm is only 15 minutes before Christopher's during the week so no time for snoozing anyway. When my husband has to get up before "rare", he sets two alarms - both screeching and an hour apart. He turns on the light after the the first one. UGH! Times like that I wish I had my own room ;-) P.S. He's also a napper. He doesn't physically get in the bed though, he falls asleep on the sofa with the tv blaring. If I turn it off he wakes up.

    1. My husband had a recliner for years and years (it came into the marriage with him) that he would not get rid of because it was so comfy for napping. And he utilized that chair... a lot. ;)
