The Weather is Wacked

When I left this morning, the weather was warm...like jacket weather warm, but the car doors were frozen and there was a thin coating of ice everywhere.  I thought it had to be 32 degrees (F) for it to freeze?  Anyway, driving was fine, but the ice had already taken out electric down the road (knocking on wood it doesn't come this way), and at the street light heading to the highway (an interesting turn to take with no working street lights).

On the way home, which really wasn't all that long later, the ice stopped and the snow started pouring (I always used to tell my husband that it cannot 'pour snow,' but now I see that he was correct, and I was completely wrong).

Now it's steady, but flurry type of snow coming down.  The fluffy, pretty kind.

But the weather's a mess.  It'll be interesting to see what the rest of the day holds.

It's been a very curious season, to be sure.  Anyone else having wacky weather this year?

Well they say you can have 3 seasons in a day in Montreal - but having said that the weather IS extremely strange lately!
Seems to be constantly breaking records of some sort - warmest day- coldest day - most snow ....BUT we're almost in March - can't believe how fast it's gone!

The last couple of years have been curious here in Pennsylvania. Summers have been very warm which is very strange for Pennsylvania. I am not complaining mind you.... I love the HOT weather.

Winters have been different from what I rememeber also, warmer than usual and the snow doesn't last as long.

My Mom used to say the weather was going to switch and we were going to get more of a Southern climate in the North. I would love it if that turns to be true.

This weather is the most insane thing I've ever seen! It's like the seasons change within the same day LOL.

Time goes fast. I always thought that was just a saying but it really does seem like there just aren't enough hours in the day sometimes.

How's your contest going? I'm headed over for today's vote.

If anyone else is interested, Suzan (from Simply Vintageous...by Suzan) is (#155). She does awesome work and this is one of my all-time favorites.

As long as there aren't wretched complications that follow (though I suspect there very well could be), I'm a fan of warmer weather too.

Kentucky, yes?

I am with you on the wacky weather...one minute it is springish and the next it is freeeeeezing. March is always a crazy weather month for us. I hope you have a wonderful day. :-) xoxo

Our Jan. and Feb. have been sharing lions and lambs. ;)

Yeah it is really out to lunch. Snow and ice came, with wind, then poof the sun is out and shining, hour later more snow, poof sunny again and the roads were clear by supper.

Well, at least we're in good company, it looks like it's not an uncommon thing and is happening all over.

I just went out and it was bitterly cold...hours ago I posted about it being jacket weather. Crazy.

So odd! We've had strange weather here in MO as well. We've had a couple days of temps in the 60s, then the next day it'll be 30 degrees. So hard to get used to that!

I live in California!! Our weather is boring!!!
But we do have a nice change of rain today. That should be nice. :-)

mail4rosey said...

It's no wonder people have been so sick on and off all winter. We've gotten several letters this year to notify of us of flu going around the schools.

mail4rosey said...

Ohh...boring in your case of weather, is good. :)

We are having a pretty active winter here with another snow storm coming within the next week. New England weather is pretty much almost wacky!

mail4rosey said...

Eek, I haven't checked our weather for next week, I guess I'd better. We have guests driving over this a'way then. I'm sure they'll look...but now I'm curious. ;)

I can't say it enough. Hurry Up Spring!!! Yesterday I was sweating, today I am shivering. This weather is making my body all wacky!

LOL, I send boots, gloves, and a hat along for the school day, even if it's too warm for them in the morning, because I know darn well that this year they might just be needed by the time recess rolls around.

I swear the weather everywhere has been crazy lately.

Even in Texas? Say it isn't so! :)

it was below 30 one day.. then the next was in the 70's... yep, this weather is crazy

rina said...

Yes we do get that a lot. Weather is indeed crazy this year. Blame it to global warming!

This is the first year ever I've seen such weather. It's clear as can be right now (but very cold!).

I think I'll Google later to see if it's like this everywhere. I'm just curious now what's going on in other parts of the world.

Definitely wacky weather here; up one minute and down the next. Raining...then snowing...then sunshine; all within the same hour.

I wonder what summer is going to be like... I hope it's just consistently wonderful w/no chilly spells.

In Nebraska it was in the 50s on Sunday. It snowed Monday. Tomorrow we're supposed to get a bad blizzard.

Eek! Stay safe and warm!

Mel@Mellywood's Mansion said...

We are on the opposite end of the scale this Summer has just been unbearable!

Being too hot is just as miserable as being too cold. Your melting ice cream truck did make me laugh though. :)

Pretty boring here in Atlanta. Last year we had an unnaturally warm winter so the 30-40 degrees temps have me shivering!

mail4rosey said...

Ohh, Atlanta's got good shopping!! 30-40 does seem pretty cold for that far south.

We have a wicked ice storm barreling our way. I'm not looking forward to it's arrival tomorrow.

Our weather is pretty whack as well. It was spring like this morning - though it's rained the past few days and everything was frozen and icy, it was still fairly warm. then the winds picked up and the snow came in and now I'm freezing! Crazy weather!

Masshole Mommy said...

Well, I live in New England and we are notorious for wacky weather around here. It can be 70 degrees one day and we could have a blizzard the next. You just never know and frankly, the weather people aren't always that much help. We kind of have to play it by ear around here.

mail4rosey said...

I saw another storm is coming around. Stay safe.

mail4rosey said...

It is SO cold today. I don't like it when it gets this cold. I'm getting on the 'ready for Spring' bandwagon.

mail4rosey said...

My husband looked up the weather last night and it said 40-degrees for today. It's not even half that.

Colette S said...

I'd love to see the white stuff pouring down!
My son would definitely LOVE it!

I need to take him somewhere , where there is snow :)

You definitely have wacky weather girl.

Only thing here that is strange is the strong winds blowing everything down, and it seems like it's affecting quite a few states!

In Spain the weather is crazy only in some areas.

Carla said...

The weather is crazy here, too. Sunday when we were outside playing in the snow, the boys took off their hats, and wanted to take off their coats (it was mid to high 30's, but that really is pretty darn warm for North Dakota in February). Yesterday morning when I got up to get Elliott ready for school, it was -23, not counting the windchill.

Our weather is crazy all year long here, though. When school first started this year, I would send Elliott in jeans, and a jacket, but put shorts in his backpack, because it would be 50 degrees or less in the morning when he left for school, but 85 or warmer when school was out.

We had some really strong winds last week, but now nothing. It's still cold. And they say another storm's coming. Just in time for the weekend. -_-

mail4rosey said...

That's crazier than even here. And -23??! I got cold just reading it. ;)

mail4rosey said...

I imagine the scenery is Spain is so beautiful that it makes most any crazy weather tolerable. :)

The ONLY reason I like snow is because the kids do. :)
