The Oscars are a big deal. Many people love to watch, and the time leading up to them is filled with a lot of merriment, fun, and celebration. The movies, however, are usually not of interest to me... not even the movie that wins the big one. Nothing against cinema, I like it, and we do go from time to time, though more times than not I end up with the youngest in a children's movies while the rest of the family gets to see the more grown up ones. 98% of the time, I don't mind (I actually like kid movies). There were a couple of movies I missed though, that I would have liked to have seen in the theater...J. Edgar from 2011, and Lincoln, from 2012 come to mind. I have yet to see either, but I'm sure I'll get to see them on video at some point.
This year, however, the award has had the opposite affect on me. I didn't watch the Oscars, but I did follow them a little bit in the news. Before the winning announcements were made, I had zero interest in Ben Affleck's Argo. Now I really want to see it.
Movie nights are fun, but there's so much of an age difference between each of my children, that's it's not something we do too often. There are rare instances, however, when I'll leave the kids at home (with dad) and go on my own, and Argo might end up being one of them. It's still playing in one theater sort of close to us...we'll see. It's probably more likely that I'll end up renting it on video.
Have you seen it, and if so did you like it? Any interest in seeing it if you haven't yet? Or is there another movie that was out you saw and loved, or one you missed entirely that you wanted to see? Are you big movie goers? Have I asked too many questions?? :)
