"I am definitely too busy to take a nap."
-from The Christopher Chronicles: Age 5
"This book is for every adult who has ever been left speechless by a child and had to hold back their laughter." ~Antoinette Dickson
-from back cover of the book
I wrote the review below not too long ago, and since it is the holidays and this is one of my new favorite books, I thought I would purchase one to share with my readers in a giveaway (and I purchased another for my sister-in-law as a Christmas gift!).
If you are a blogger you may have already heard of Kenya G. Johnson from the blog "Here's the Thing..." Her posts are great, and oftentimes hilarious. Her stories about her workouts with her husband had me in stitches, and now every time someone says, "Here's the thing..." I think of her blog and laugh (in a good way). :)
Johnson is also an author of the newly published book, her first, The Christopher Chronicles: Age 5. Since I enjoy reading her blog so much, I had to go purchase the book. It did not disappoint. Anyone who has had a child in their lives will be able to relate to this one. From the first page to the last, The Christopher Chronicles offers a glimpse into the curious and hilarious mind of a happy, vivacious 5-yr. old. I find this blurb on the back of the book cover to be an accurate portrayal of what's inside, "Lighthearted and easy to read, it is peppered with more than a modicum of wit, and I guarantee you're going to chuckle or even laugh out loud (more than once)."
(UPDATE: The new & improved 2nd edition has been printed, and that is the one the lucky winner will receive!).
The Christopher Chronicles would be the perfect addition to any home library, and priced at just $10.99 on Amazon, it also makes a great gift idea (with the holidays here, this would be a great and affordable holiday item to give to most anyone!).
Note: If you order here through the month of December you will receive a signed, gift-wrapped copy, sent right to your door!
Supporting a fellow blogger whose work you enjoy is always fun, supporting one who is a great author too, is even better.
You can follow Johnson on her website found here, her blog, Facebook, Twitter, G+ and/or Pinterest.

ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting the giveaway Rosey! Thanks for clarifying who the book is for. While some older kids might enjoy some of the Christopherisms, the book is intended for adults. Ofcourse Christopher loves the book but reading it again to him at almost age 8 he will say, "Mom I still don't get that one."
ReplyDeleteWow! I would love to have this book as a gift for my sister since she's a mother now. Also for me since I am a sunday school teacher at our church :) Thanks for giving this but I bet it's not international.

I hope your sister in law doesn't read your blog or the surprise is ruined ;) What a generous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't read it. She's one of several members in my family who don't even have (or want) Internet. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking this one into the Kid Lit Blog Hop, Rosey! It sounds adorable :)
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great gift for my son! He loves reading & I think he would really enjoy this one!
ReplyDeleteChristopher sounds so much like my nephew when he was little; like the time he told my mother that something she was doing was ingenious. He was three at the time.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like the perfect chuckle fest for any adult who's spent time with young children. Good for you, Kenya, for writing this little gem.
This would be for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteSounds like something that would be great to read with my daughter.
ReplyDeleteGift for my GRandson
ReplyDeleteI'm not entering the giveaway (I'm in Canada), but I wanted to thank you for linking into the Kid Lit Blog Hop. This book sounds hilarious. Kids do say (and think) the craziest things. My son is 6 and he constantly cracks me up. I think that's why the book is funny - because it's true and as parents, we can relate. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree on all accounts. Thanks for stopping by, Renee!
