Now is the Time to Buy Summer Toys

Ever notice a good number of the coolest toys need major assembly?  Toy kitchens, ride-in cars, ride-on cars, and so on and so forth.  That's aside from the point I'm making today, but isn't it so true?

(Forgive the glare, I couldn't prevent it).

On to the point....

Quite some time ago, we won a Little Tikes Sandy Lagoon Waterpark from the awesome blog being run at The Bragging Mommy (forgive the glare in the picture, I couldn't prevent it), and though I meant to give it to my son, a good friend of ours has three little ones with birthdays all around the same time, so we gifted it to them.  It was SUCH a hit, with them, and my son when visiting, that I got one for my little man too.

If you live in a seasonal area, and know anyone in a warm area with kiddos, or are the kind of person who shops way ahead of time and stores the items until later (I'm raising my hand here), now is the time to get summer toys.   The clearance prices on even the most expensive of summer fun items is phenomenally low right now (because really, who needs them in the winter?).

So...the next time you're out shopping, check those clearance lanes, look at the seasonal section, and get ready to save.  And if you know someone with kiddos who lives in year-round warm weather, even better...you can shop for their holiday gifts now and save a bundle!  In the long run, the savings if you buy today is totally worth it... and that is true even if the toys do come with 'some assembly required.'  :)

    1. I like the heat over the cold, but I've made a general resolution NOT to grouch about winter this year. We'll see how I do...this grouch doesn't count. :)

  2. Yes, that is VERY true....and it seems that EVERYTHING I buy the kids for Christmas needs assembly!

You're totally on to something about buying the summer stuff now, though. I am always on the lookout for clearance stuff when it's off season - whether it's clothes or toys.

    1. I do that after winter, getting the boots and coats for next year. This year, little man surprised me and didn't grow a whole coat size. lol S'alright, we've got next year covered. ;)

    1. Agreed. :) And if you don't mind holding on to the items, it can save a ton for holiday gift giving (or birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). I'm careful to only give what I know people will like though... and don't buy a sale just to get a good deal, if that makes sense.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Of course in NC they might not go on sale - we can almost use water guns year round ;-) We are about to have some unseasonable weather though. The hight Tuesday will be 50 and that is rare for Winter period - let alone October.

  7. I was at Target yesterday and found some awesome Crayola outdoor toys marked 75% off. Now is definitely the time to be buying those toys! I always stash them away until the following summer for birthdays and such. No one needs to know I bought toys on the cheap lol.
