Vitalicious seems to be all the rage right now, and we were sent this big, beautiful super sampler pack for review (thank you, Vitalicious). This company has been featured on television networks, CNBC & ABC. They have also been featured by the equally popular Hungry Girl, and in countless blog reviews, to name but a few places.
The concept behind the products is that they are full of things that are good for you, low on calories, and have no additives or preservatives (none, zero, zip, nada). You store them in your freezer, and they last for approximately nine months. At 100 calories per 2 oz. serving, they are the perfect size for snacking.
On to the review...the good, the bad, and there's no ugly.
I'll start with the "bad," so I can end the review on a positive note (which I think the company deserves because there are so many positives that they have to offer). I don't like the chocolate...any of it. I think that's because I'm used to the junked-up preservative/additive-filled type, but nonetheless, I don't like it. My husband really, really likes it though, so it could just be me (and you can see from the ratings reviews that the chocolate items get a lot of five-star reviews).
Hubby is taking one a day to work with him, and using it as his mid-morning snack. Every day in the beginning he would give me the same spiel, "I don't know how you can't like these, they're good." He has since given up on trying to convince me, and come to the realization that if I don't like them, the better for him because he gets them all. Smart man.
|The Banana Nut VitaTops were perfect!|
Now on to the good. The snacks included that did not have chocolate were DELICIOUS! The VitaTops were my favorite. They're huge (and still only 100 calories), have a great consistency, and taste exactly like you would expect a muffin to taste. The Banana Nut Vitatop was my absolute favorite, and I can see myself buying these during a routine grocery store trip.
The VitaTops are also nutritious. According the the Vitalicious website, the VitaTops have less sugar and more nutrients than an apple. You can see the comparison list on their website, and I have to admit it's pretty impressive.
Vitalicious is innovative too. I discovered on their website that in addition to the great (and very plentiful) selection of snacks they offer, they also have VitaMixes, so you can make your own treats at home; English Muffin-style buns; and pizza (at only 190 calories, I have got to try the pizza!).
If you want to see what all of the hubbub is about (and I recommend that you do), you can purchase Vitalicious snacks in the freezer section at your local grocery store, or you can purchase them online directly through the company.
You can follow Vitalicious on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and/or Pinterest.
