Shutterfly 8x8 Photo Book Review and Giveaway!

For anyone who reads my blog regularly, it should come as no surprise that I am a big fan of Shutterfly.  In addition to the photo prints we order each month from our digital camera, we also have a wide array of photo items we have made using Shutterfly.  My favorite item from Shutterfly though, is their photo book (see my bazillion photo books here).  The 8x8 size is my favorite because it is just right for little hands, but still comfortable for adults; fits on the bookshelf well (vertically or flat); and lends itself well to story time told by photos...the format is just really nice!

When you create a photo book on the Shutterfly website, you can find just about any option you want for making a book that is unique to your own personality and style.  We recently made an 8x8 photo book for my son's 5th birthday present.  He loves to dress up in costumes, so I made a book that showed all of the ones he has, and some that he has made up on his own.  In the book I tried some new options, such as the two-page photo spread using one picture (pages 14-15 on the video preview below).  This is a new feature and I LOVE the option.  You can also move the pictures where you want them, select how many you would like on a page, change or add additional backgrounds, use a photo as an entire page (pages 8-9 on the video preview below), and write text (in the font of your choosing) when and where you want it.  You can create a title page, and/or add photos to the front and back covers.  There is also the option to title your book on the binding, so it will be easy to find when it's located on a bookshelf.

As if that were not enough...the books are high quality.  The paper is nice and thick, the bonding is strong, and the photo quality is beyond reproach.  When you're making your book, you can edit, preview, and edit some more.  There's also a spell check feature, which has come in handy more than once for us.  And then you can share your book, in a wide variety of ways.  You can e-mail it, share it via the Shutterfly share site, post it on Facebook, or even embed it into a blog post (like I did below).

I really cannot say enough wonderful things about the Shutterfly photo book.  We've made quite a few of our own, and we've made some to mark special occasions (graduation, summer vacation, etc.).  They make really thoughtful gifts too (maybe for a child's birthday like we did, a big birthday such as the big 4-0, a baby shower, an anniversary, and so on and so forth).  You can see the book I made for my son above.  I've edited his name, but the rest is the same.  He LOVED his book, and his grandpa is in the hospital, not feeling well, so we had an identical one made for him too, and grandpa read it front to back to little one, and asked for it to be displayed on his window ledge so the nurses could see it when they came in.  Big smiles here.  :)

If you haven't tried one, or you have and would love another, Shutterfly has happily offered to give one free 8x8 photo book to one of my readers.  Hurray!  Thank you Shutterfly!

The giveaway will run for two weeks.  Winner will be selected randomly via Rafflecopter and notified by e-mail (be sure to leave an e-mail contact in your giveaway entry).  Winner will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen.

I had a "glitch" when I was filling out the form and didn't get to note where I'd commented; it was on Wordless Wednesday (World's Luckiest Mom).
